If you think you can trust App Store ratings, you haven’t been paying enough attention. This is the iOS *system* rating prompt, not a custom look-alike one. The worst part? This trick is EXTREMELY easy for any developer to do, and not limited to this app. 🚨🚨🚨.

Apple also says they conduct a “robust” review process - yet this fraud takes place immediately upon launching the app. Even an automated check would have caught this!. But with no competing app stores on iOS, Apple doesn’t care enough to improve their ways… 🤷.

Fake ratings, and fake reviews. These quickly push the scams to the top of search results, leaving honest & hard-working developers in the dust. An old problem that's not easy to solve, but one that's at the core of why App Store app discovery is so problematic.

I’m guessing Apple somehow implemented a review request right after finishing a podcast, thus leading a LOT of people to believe they are rating the podcast itself rather than the app. Ratings manipulation at its finest, by the gatekeepers themselves. Well done, @Apple.

I feel sick. Apple just sent me an email saying they're removing my free game Motivoto because its more than 2 years old. It's part of their App improvement system. This is not cool. Console games from 2000 are still available for sale. This is an unfair barrier to indie devs.

The richest company in the world can create an app that lets you safely browse the entire internet on your phone (Safari), but when it comes to native apps they MUST ABSOLUTELY go through the artisanally-curated, scam-infested App Store with a 30% commission. Makes total sense!.
