WEHS Nick Solis signed to play baseball for the D1 University of Houston Cougars. Nick is also an honor roll student with over 20 college credit hours who currently ranked in the top 11 percent of his class. This is the first major college baseball signing in the history of WEHS.

Congratulations to Weslaco East linebacker Freddy Cardenas, who was named 31-6A Defensive MVP. The senior was the leader of the district's top defensive unit. Cardenas was by far the squads leading tackler with 120 and will go down as one of the Wildcats' best linebackers.

The Board of Trustees voted and announced the renaming of the WISD Performing Arts Center to the Susan M. Peterson Center for the Visual & Performing Arts. Mrs. Peterson was a big supporter of the arts and spent more than 30 years at WISD before her passing in December of 2020.

Congrats to Weslaco High QB Jacob Cavazos, who was named 31-6A Offensive MVP. The junior carried the Panthers offense to an 11-2 mark including a bi-district and area titles. The dual QB combined for over 2,400 yards of offense while tossing for 23 TD's and scored 13 times.
