Looking over the data, I'm struck by how similar Michael was to #TD10 right now. The expected path/intensity at this point are nearly identical, and conditions are about as favorable. There is still considerable uncertainty but the analog is there and TD10's ceiling is very high.

I think it's safe to say #Ida will go down as one of the most infamous storms in our lifetimes. From near Cat 5 strength at landfall and devastating damage to tornadoes across the Eastern US and a once in 200+ year flooding event in the northeast. Wow. #wxtwitter

The Tri-State tornado of 1925 traveled 219 miles. So far tonight's tornado has traveled about 190 miles. If it stays on the ground past Madisonville (it likely will) and if is treated as a single tornado, then we will have a new record. Remember this night. #kywx #tornado

As far as our 2/5 threat goes, ensembles look solid, and deterministic runs are suppressed, which is good at this range. However, this storm is still over a week away so lots of time for this to change, for better or worse. Don't get caught up in singular model runs! #ncwx #scwx

Regarding the TORE issued in Arkansas earlier. This image, taken by Michael Davis, shows what may be a tornado. Just because there isn't a highly visible wedge or a crazy CC drop on radar, doesn't mean there isn't a tornado. The NWS 100% made the right, SAFE, call here. #arwx

I don't know if I've ever seen models be this horrificly inconsistent, in this close of a range. It's only two/three days away and models still can't figure out if a storm will even happen or not. The weather Fri-Sun could be anything from clouds, to a snowstorm, to an ice storm.

As models have been hinting at for days, it looks increasingly likely that a shot of arctic air is in store in the 8-10 day range for much of the US following a weakening of the polar vortex, though details such as intensity and longevity are still murky at this time. #ncwx #scwx

Today's 12z Euro basically shows the one of the snowiest possible scenarios with regards to next weekend's potential storm. Energy cuts of nicely and phases with the northern energy pretty much right over us. Getting everything to work out that nicely is... unlikely. #ncwx #scwx

A three body scatter spike (TBSS) as this tornado passed through Mayfield, KY minutes ago. Usually seen in thunderstorms indicating hail, this would indicate a large amount of debris being lifted high into the atmosphere. Extremely rare to be seen with tornadoes. #kywx

The 12z Euro is EXACTLY what you want to see if you're a snow lover in the southeast. A cold pattern sets up, and then comes storm after storm rolling through. Storm tracks are a little far north on this run but the main idea is what I'm getting at. Hope this sticks. #ncwx #scwx

Although the 06z GFS doesn't explicitly show any big storms, this is probably the most "near misses" I've ever seen in a single run, with southern/northern branches not quite phasing. The pattern looks quite favorable, it will all come down to something linking up. #ncwx #scwx

Tomorrow's enhanced risk for the Mid-Atlantic will feature a double-barreled threat. Further north, backed surface winds and higher dewpoints will heighten tornado risk. Further south, inverted-v temperature profile and dry air aloft will heighten damaging wind risk. #wxtwitter
