🚨PERSONAL NEWS: After 21 years it’s time for me to step away from TV. Sometimes you have to seize an opportunity when it’s presented and the right opportunity came for me to make a change. I'm nervous but also excited about my journey. My last day at KRCG is June 26.
Please welcome the newest member of the
@KRCG13
Weather Authority team, Joe Farrell,
@JFarrellWx
. He comes to us from Sioux Falls, SD. Give him a warm welcome!

The Taurid meteor shower may reach its annual peak from around late evening on November 11, 2019, until the wee morning hours on November 12.
GRAB THE TISSUES: This dad was deployed in Afghanistan for four months. Since he's a deputy sheriff, he decided to surprise his son at a traffic stop – and the boy clung to his father, and couldn't let go.
Happy Birthday
@KRCG13
!! 🥳🎂 We first signed on February 13, 1955. We've been on the air for 65 years! What is/was your favorite KRCG show? I'm pretty partial to the
@DickKRCG13
show... That's a thing right?
Here's something you don't see everyday... Snow Rollers! They are made by the wind in same fashion that you would roll snow to make a snowman. Very cool!! 📸Harold Coots

Hey guys! I'm working from home now. It's going to be fun to guess what kind of pants I have on. Maybe I should start a guessing game?? 🤣 (hint, I do not own sweat pants)
Hope each of you are well and continue to practice good habits. 😷

It was a great time once again! Our collective group of Super Plungers raised over $76,000 for SOMO. The weekend altogether raised over $157,000! Thank you for supporting
@SOMissouri
athletes!

I want to thank my friend Keith for the donation to the polar plunge. 🥶❄️🌊
He's a 39 year Special Olympics athlete and one of the hardest workers at
@culvers
. Come in and say hi to Keith, grab a sandwich, and you can make a donation to
@somissouri
by buying a polar bear.
Here's some of the nerdy stuff behind fireworks and what makes them the pretty colors. Keep this in mind as you watch the various displays over the next few days.
So what’s next? I’ll work with another organization I’ve been passionate about for nearly 15 years Special Olympics Missouri. So you'll still see me around town.
Check out these sweet company issued hard hats! 🚧👷👷♀️ We're required to wear them outside because of falling chunks of ice off the tower behind us.

's face is because it ruins her hair! Lol

Thank you for the hard work and dedication you put in around the holidays.
Those athletes admire your contribution to help them more than you'll ever know! Thank you for selecting
@SOMissouri
as a charity this year and me as the vehicle to deliver it.

Welding presented a $2K check Monday to
@WeatherZach
as a contribution to his
@SOMissouri
fundraiser. Students raised the money through their Christmas fundraiser, creating & selling Christmas yard signs. We are so proud of NCC Welding students & teacher Kenny Thomas!
Happy National Weatherperson's Day

!! I can't imagine how much different my life would be had we not met. OR had mom not harassed you. Thank you for being awesome to a young kid at the time! (circa 2006 Deja Vu CoMO)
Well
#MidMO
, we did it. We managed to end up with something to show for our time in the cold. We happened to tie the all-time record for consecutive days below 20° with 11. I feel good about not making that 12 tomorrow. Some sunshine and warmer weather in the days ahead.

In case you missed it,
@ElyseSmithWX
was chosen to be apart of the AMS Early Career Leadership Academy. Very proud of you. Keep doing the great things and great things will happen to you.
Excited to announce I‘ve been chosen to be part of the 2019
@ametsoc
Early Career Leadership Academy, in partnership with
@IBM
. I feel so lucky and am so thankful, especially after meeting my intelligent & esteemed cohorts. Looking forward to this amazing experience!

It's still a few days out there but we're watching this system very closely. A few things have to come together for this to pan out entirely, but there's a chance you'll need a snow shovel this week. Rain for sure but it's looking more like snow.
#midmowx
#mowx
In case you missed it, I explained the weight of snow and why it's important to remove excess snow from roof tops (if possible).
We ended up with a snow ratio between 10:1 and 8:1. This ratio is read as 1 inch of rain equals 10 inches of snow.
This tornado was the same strength as what rolled through Eldon and into Jefferson City. What was our 30 mile path was their 50 mile path. My heart goes out to everyone affected. We know what you're going through.
@heliascatholic
Because you asked:
A few showers are nearby for the parade but currently looking dry. Kickoff is looking mostly dry at the moment also. Heavy rain moves in late Sat PM. That rain will likely ruin hair for pictures. Plan accordingly or get super creative.

I had another forecast make it on Royals pregame.
I record one for almost every game hoping it makes the pregame show. I love having this opportunity.
📸 = my mom. I think my parents love seeing me on the TV back in KC. It's a pretty special feeling for me too.

Are you ready for the cooldown?? I'm sure you've already seen the cool down advertised to arrive in the next 10 days or so. But I don't remember this many people craving sweater weather already.
#midmowx
Guys
@WeatherZach
is back in studio. Not sure how I feel about this. I was so used to the Chiefs and Royals gear in his home that this just feels weird now.

We thank you for working tirelessly around the clock to make sure roads become safe and passable. Thank you for the time and extra time you are putting in.
We're out fighting the snow storm continuously here in the district for you! We thank you for your patience! If you have a question about the prioritization order in which area roads are plowed please visit:

Looking ahead to Tuesday, we have the threat for severe storms once again. Damaging Winds and Large Hail are the main threats but isolated tornadoes appear to also be possible late Tuesday night. Stay alert to weather conditions.

I know I will miss lots of things and the people at
@KRCG13
, but I’m excited to join this group of hardworking people and, more importantly, work with all the amazing athletes we have in Missouri.
Severe Weather Possible again Tuesday night. Main Threat: Damaging Winds and Large Hail. Tornadoes are not likely but can't be ruled out with the strongest storms. Storms looks to arrive after 10p.
#midmowx
WOW! Just wow! What a game! I'm not sure there will be a better game this postseason. Have to tip my hat to the Bills, they played a near-perfect game. They were the one team that I was nervous to play in the playoffs. Great game

.
It's still 2000 miles away but confidence is increasing on seeing accumulating snow late Friday into Saturday morning. Some things are going to change between now and then but we'll be focusing on those details over the next few days.
#midmowx
New Outlook now has much of
#midmo
under a Risk Level 3. Very Large Hail, Damaging Winds and A Few Tornadoes are all possible this afternoon/evening. Make sure you download the KRCG13 Weather App and have your Weather Radios on.

Lightning in the eyewall suggests the storm is still strengthening.
Nasty tornado ripped through Nashville overnight. Today in Missouri, the statewide tornado drill is at 10:00am. Practice your safety plan. And if you don't have one please put one together. It could save your life. My heart breaks for Nashville this morning.
