The amount of lightning strikes in the eyewall of Hurricane

during the last hour is just incredible. Hard to believe this thing could still be strengthening, but it may be.

According to NASA: "As of August 16, 2019, satellite observations indicated that total fire activity in the Amazon basin was slightly below average in comparison to the past 15 years."
#Beryl
is catching up to
#Ivan
2004 with the tornado warnings. Ivan had 213 warnings from Sept. 14-19, 2004. By my count Beryl has now had 186, and counting.
OK that's cute. Some people built a snowman on the ALERTCalifornia cam at Pole Mountain (2,205') west of Santa Rosa and the cam operator centered on it.

Confirmed via SPC's

Tornado Warned storm left rotation track right through the middle of Washington, D.C. around 9:10 PM! Trees down in Falls Church, winds gusted >50 southeast of DC!

Weirdest thing I've ever seen this AM in Texas... legit thunderstorms with lots of lightning and hail, developing in areas where temps are 26-28 degrees and dropping heavy freezing rain.
Among the more amusing apocalyptic predictions for next week is the GDAPS/UM model, which is predicting the second-deepest pressure in a hurricane since 1850 in the middle of the Gulf -- an 885 mb storm.
Headline says "you can see the damage from space."

You can see smoke from space, you can see hotspots (kind of) from space, but you can't see "the damage from space."

I believe that this house, at 3909 1st Street, Galveston, Texas may have been hit by a tornado. The home is not oceanfront and an MRMS NROT rotational wind signature went right through there overnight before Hurricane

Again, in PA I am super bummed but happy for all who saw them.

We have passed the highest

reports season on record YTD (inflation-adjusted LSRs via SPC). But, with calmer weather this week, we will likely slip below it in a few days.
The last report from the USGS gauge at Patapsco River near Elkridge at Patapsco Valley State Park indicated that the all-time record high stage has been broken and that the river rose 17.88 feet in ~2 hours.

For anyone who is tied to a model "consensus" remember:
1. How bad the Irma 2017 4-DAY forecast was, predicting it going to SC (we're 5-DAYS from Hurricane Florence hitting)
2. The European model ensembles once had Irma 2017 off the coast, operational in Raleigh, NC
Can't believe I'm saying this AGAIN today but Hurricane
#Dorian
is showing a lot of lightning in the eye, a sign of strengthening. The Hurricane Hunters must be getting a heck of a show.
Don't do it,

, just don't do it.
BAD NEWS: Part of

is trying to come back to spread rain onto to the Carolina coast.
GOOD NEWS: It will stay weak and NHC has only a 20% chance of formation. Accu Forecast:
