Big news!
Five years ago, Marauder Film reached out to us about adapting Primordia into cinematic form.
James and Vic got me over my uncertainties, and the three of us sold Marauder an option.
Earlier today, Marauder exercised the option and bought the rights!

Victor Pflug's attempt to smear Dave is horrible.
My working relationship with Dave has spanned two games and 13 years, and in recent years it's grown into a friendship. I think that's true for most everyone Dave works with. To be sure, there were stretches when I viewed him as
Apologies in advance for the drama.
Yesterday Victor Pflug (the artist of Primordia) accused me of refusing an audit request and not paying royalties. These accusations are his latest step in a long-running harassment campaign against me and Primordia's other co-creators. It's
We're delighted to announce that Primordia—our cult classic indie adventure game—will be released on the Nintendo Switch next month. My first video game system was an NES, so this feels like coming home. Grateful to the fans whose support over the years made this dream come true.
There is a lot of pain in game development even under the best of circumstances. But, in the best of circumstances, you get reminders like this of why you put up with the rest of it.
In 2016, dementia took my granny; then my grandfather laid his burden down. Strangeland is their story. And mine. And everyone's. Love and loss, shame and redemption are the *human* story: the eternal struggle not to lose sight of light in the darkness.
Happy to announce

Our third update about our upcoming RPG, Fallen Gods, discusses the game's setting (and some of the setting's inspirations), and includes some of my favorite art from the game, as well as more music and VO.

The Adventure Game of the Year award from
@AgotyAwards
is an honor, and the letter about Strangeland is touching.
The trophy is awesome for another reason: my daughters’ third adventure (after Primordia and Loom) was DoTT; no better symbol of the genre’s enduring vibrancy.
Launching a very personal game is terrifying, stressful and rewarding in equal parts. Reading your kind reviews, heartfelt reactions and thoughtful criticism has been wonderful. Love to you all for the light you’ve shone on our dark, hopeful horror game.
We are very pleased and proud to announce a new build of Primordia. Among other things, it completely updates the engine to improve comparability with modern systems and adds integrated French, German, and Spanish translations.

I've spent the day reading kind Steam and GOG reviews left by players, watching great LPs, working my way through the many words of encouragement shared on Twitter, Discord, and elsewhere -- just want to say thank you to everyone for all of this.
Three years since we launched Strangeland, our follow-up to Primordia. In some ways, it feels like yesterday; in others, a different time entirely.

Hit 3,000 reviews for Primordia today! Tried to respond to them all, but no doubt a few fell through the cracks. Each means a lot. Gamedev is all about relationships, and each review is a small connection with a player. Those connections carry you through the rough patches!
In 10 days, we release Strangeland, our follow-up to Primordia. It's a psychological horror weaving classic adventure gameplay (exploration, puzzles, riddles, etc.) with personal themes of grief, self-doubt and redemption. We appreciate wishlists/retweets.
Here's Strangeland, an adventure game that

Oh, cool! Primordia broke 200,000 copies sold on Steam! (Total copies sold is around 303,000 -- the rest spread across GOG, a couple bundles back in the day, iOS, Switch, some direct sales, etc.)
I’m going to share some of my favorite things fans have done for Primordia over the years, starting with plush Horatio and Crispin (made by separate fans!), which were immediately beloved by my daughters.

(I mean, we haven't won yet, but surely...)
Just finished Strangeland, listening to all the commentary tracks and reading all the annotations. Somehow, despite my predilections, I find myself satisfied. Normally, the gap between the game as imagined and as executed is wide and cruel. Here, I love what we ended up with.
It's strange that "Lovecraftian" horror, which began with an author's effort to vaguely articulate something ineffable and beyond the experience of the reader, is now completely commonplace. It's like how "vanilla" went from an incredibly exotic spice to a byword for blandness.
"Primordia is a game that I will never forget. The environment is bleak but beautiful, the story is well-developed and thought inspiring, and the puzzles are genuinely well thought out and well put together. Overall, this is one of my favorite games."

All life has been obliterated. In the waste, a robot faces his foes with decency and dignity, while fighting against his own hardwiring as a tool of destruction. This, he believes, will make him a worthy heir to Man, a mythical being he barely understands.
I saw this TV set being thrown away and wanted to rescue it. It’s like the ghost of a memory from my childhood. My grandparents had a cabinet like this one. Even if TV tech is much better, it’s not more beautiful.
Primordia is 70% off on Steam! If you enjoyed Strangeland and haven't played Primordia, give it a look! If you *didn't* enjoy Strangeland because it lacked robots and wasn't an epic post-apocalyptic journey, give it a look, too! 97% of players like it!
