16 GRAMS OF METH LOCATED DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN DEFUNIAK SPRINGS; ONE ARRESTED WALTON COUNTY, FL - A traffic stop leads to the arrest of a DeFuniak Spring man for trafficking methamphetamine. On Wednesday, February 5th, a @WCSOFL deputy stopped a truck for an obstructed tag on Woodyard Road in DeFuniak Springs. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Chester McKinley, told the deputy he did not have a driver's license and that he was test-driving a friend's truck after doing some work on it. McKinley was detained and while searching the vehicle, deputies located a large plastic bag with a white crystal-like substance under the middle seat of the cab. The substance, which weighed 16 grams, field-tested positive for methamphetamine. McKinley was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and driving without a license. He was issued a $50,000 bond and is still incarcerated at the time of this release.

K9 KENNY DETECTS TRAFFICKING AMOUNT OF FENTANYL DURING TRAFFIC STOP; ONE ARRESTED WALTON COUNTY, FLA— A traffic stop leads to the arrest of a DeFuniak Springs woman after Walton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Kenny detects a trafficking amount of fentanyl. On Tuesday, February 4th, just before 3 p.m., a Walton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy observed a vehicle on U.S. 331 S with a badly cracked windshield following very closely to the car in front of it and abruptly changing lanes. When the deputy stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, who was later identified as Victoria Michelle Campbell, 41, of DeFuniak Springs, she seemed extremely nervous and was visibly shaking. The deputy deployed K-9 Kenny during the stop who gave a positive indication to the driver’s side door for an odor of narcotics. Campbell was removed from the vehicle and detained. During a search of the car, a pill bottle with three pills was located. Campbell told deputies she had a prescription, but the labeling on the bottle was inconsistent with her story. When the deputy attempted to show her the pills so she could explain the mismatch, Campbell grabbed the lid with the three pills and swallowed them. While being placed under arrest for tampering with evidence, a female DeFuniak Springs Police Sergeant was asked to assist with searching Campbell for additional narcotics. Two bags of pills were located in Campbell’s pants. One of the bags weighed 4.5 grams and the second weighed 16.9 grams and field tested positive for fentanyl. Campbell was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and trafficking in fentanyl 14 grams or more. She was given a $50,000 bond and was released on February 5th.

FELONY STOP FOR STOLEN VEHICLE LEADS TO DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGES FOR ALABAMA MAN WALTON COUNTY, FLA— An Alabama man is now facing multiple felony charges in Florida after he was stopped in Walton County driving a stolen vehicle. Late Sunday evening, @WCSOFL deputies located a stolen yellow Dodge Dakota pickup truck driving east on Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. A felony stop was conducted and the driver, Antonio Quintez Hall, 31, of Brewton, Alabama, was removed from the vehicle and detained. While removing the suspect from the truck, deputies could see a clear bag with small white rocks individually wrapped within a small plastic bag on the floor near the driver’s seat. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Upon searching the vehicle, a blue plastic container was located. Inside were clear bags with white residue and burnt pieces of tin foil that also tested positive for cocaine. Additionally, a black and bronze Kel-Tec 9-millimeter pistol was found under the driver's seat with an extended magazine. Fourteen rounds of miscellaneous ammunition were loaded into the magazine. The last digit of the gun's serial number was scratched off, preventing deputies from properly checking the firearm to confirm it was stolen. During the investigation, it was found Hall had been driving on a suspended license out of Alabama since October of 2024, and an expired driver’s license out of Florida since July of 2020. He also had an active warrant out of Escambia County, Alabama. Hall was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, removing a serial number from a firearm, dealing in stolen property, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violating driver’s license law. He was given a $5,000 bond and is still incarcerated at the time of this release.
