Volusia County Students were in for a surprise today---Hundreds of Easter baskets given out this morning, courtesy of Wal-Mart, Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Superintendent Dr. Scott Fritz.
The Volusia County School Board has selected Dr. Ronald “Scott” Fritz as the new Superintendent of Volusia County Schools pending successful contract negotiations.
University High School Junior Olivia Russo-Hood started a nonprofit organization when she was in elementary school. Now it's having a global impact, and she's being recognized nationally for her community involvement. Great job Olivia!!!

As Florida moved into Phase 3 of reopening, for VCS there is no change to our mandatory face-covering policy, social distancing practices, and other safety/health precautions at this time. We will let families know when there are any changes. Safety is our No. 1 priority.
6 trucks/equipment are on their way to Jackson County! Our 8 man Volusia Schools facilities team consists of electricians, carpenters, and a plumber. They also have heavy equipment and chainsaws. They are going to help 17 Jackson County Schools.

Schools are closed Tuesday (Sept. 3) , Wednesday (Sept. 4) and Thursday (Sept. 5). All shelters will open Monday, September 2, 2019 at 10am. All school related activities on or off campus are cancelled through Thursday.

As an added school safety and security measure, effective immediately, NO BACKPACKS will be allowed to enter with spectators (adults and students) to any Volusia County Schools stadium events.
School Way Café employees, and Superintendent Dr. Scott Fritz, have been making sure students don’t go hungry across Volusia County. More than 5,000 free breakfasts and lunches are served daily as we tackle this together!

The Volusia County School Board recognizes Amy Monahan for being chosen as the 2019 Lois Fifer Friend of Industry Award winner. This award is presented to the VMA Service or Strategic Partner member who has done the most to further the interests of manufacturing and the VMA.

The Volusia County School board voted to change the start times for next year. Elementary will go 7:50-2:30, High School is 8:30-3:30 and Middle 9:30-4:15. This goes into effect in August 2019.
