Here's a recap from some of the crew involved in this week's rescue on Lake Dias: Citizen on Patrol Charlie McCrary, Sr. Deputy Matt Seltzer & Sgt. Brodie Hughes. The other 2 out on this crew were Capt. Anthony Shank and Fire Rescue Acting Division Chief John Kyp. Great job all!

Tragedy beyond words. I cannot imagine this family’s pain, I can only pray they find strength.
A local family is dealing with tragedy tonight after a pair of dogs fatally attacked an 8-year-old boy north of DeLand. Reported just before 5 p.m. in the area of Arabesque Dr/Airport Rd. Witnesses called 911 & began CPR on the victim, but he was not able to survive his injuries.

Now I can’t stop thinking about the families of the innocent people who weren’t so lucky. I hope the investigation into this attack provides answers. Safety and security at our major events is a priority & takes all of us working together. Days like today only make that clearer.
