I think ethically, its better to remove the barnacles since they're less sentient than the turtle, AND their species is hardier and doesn't have many issues surviving when compared to the turtle's species.

They aren’t hearing stuff outside, especially since sound can’t travel in space.

I’ve been in a crash and bounced my head off the ground. Ended up with a broken leg and sore neck, but no head injuries because I wore my damn helmet. That’s the magic of wearing a helmet, they PREVENT head injuries
