Research Scientist @SonyAI_global, PhD @Princeton, Prev: @MSFTResearch, @metaai. Working on generative AI & safety. Once trained stable diffusion in $2,000.
Joined January 2013
Following fully open-source philosophy, we’ve released the official training code, data code, and model ckpts for our micro-budget training of diffusion models from scratch (MicroDiTs). Now anyone can train a Stable Diffusion v1/v2-quality model from scratch in just 2.5 days using 8 H100 GPUs (<$2000 cost). Github: Checkpoints: @SonyAI_global 1/3

@SwayStar123 I would suggest starting with a smaller model to understand the flops/fidelity tradeoff, i.e., how fast can you learn the data distribution. Using <1B param model will be a good choice.

I imagine first-party watermarking helping a lot with platform-owned generation, i.e., many users will end up using Meta's AI tools for instagram and Google's AI tools for Youtube. Just for convenience and seamless integration. It will certainly make detection easy. Also I agree with the last paragraph that it's not about watermarking. In my last year at Sony, I started working on broad AIGC detection and copyright prevention and also realized that there are so many unsolved sub-problems. Some work we did: Third-party watermark detection: Provenance: IP protection:

No matter how good the reasoning behind a presidential decision is, clearly defying your democratic institutions (Senate and Supreme Court in this case) just weakens them. It harms the nation in long run. And for what? To me, it just looks like cheap theatrics.
STATEMENT FROM TIKTOK: In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive. It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States.

Cool work Priyank. Congrats! Would have loved to see Veo2 numbers in there. I wonder how much reliable is the VideoPoet ranking or any other model ranking with poor video quality that makes the generation unrealistic. Drawing parallel to LLMs, it's like the model using correct grammar in parts it write well but then generates all jumbled up text in others.
