Hello! I hope you are well! I am Beth, an aerospace engineer and professional astronaut at Virgin Galactic. I conducted the first evaluation of VSS Unity’s cabin on VF01, becoming the first human to unstrap on a suborbital spaceflight and the first female US commercial astronaut.

Hard to fathom that one year ago today I woke up and carpooled to work to sit console only to be asked to serve on the flight crew instead. I was the fully-trained backup and the assigned engineer wasn’t feeling 100% so he pulled himself from the flight in service to the mission

I’m finally reading the flight tweets and gosh this one is meaningful. At precisely 30 seconds before release our SS2 pilot said “Ok [Beth] we’ll speak with you again in weightlessness”. And then we all did just that, without fuss and exactly per training. Nice.
