ISU SSP24 class representative - Social Media Editor for ESA reserve astronaut Nicola Winter - project manager BVSR CASIMAR for ESA/DLR LUNA Analog Facility
Upon multiple request I will try to recreate the construction of the
#ISS
with the recent released
@LEGO_Group
model in this thread (if you find any errors please let me know):
#ISS
Russian crew members have been informed by
#MCC
#Moscow
that all burns scheduled for
#Nauka
today have been successful, however they are still waiting for a successful test of the
#Nauka
KURS system, that is required for rendezvous with the
#ISS
.
Yay! I passed the "Human Spaceflight" exam with 1.0 (best grade in the German grading system). I would like to thank my professors Prof. Czupalla and Prof. Albracht for that great and exciting course. I had a lot of fun and still learn quite something. Study at
#FH_Aachen
! ;)
I would like to announce that now also the Astronauts on the
#ISS
are now watching the
#JWST
livestream and they even created a special
#JWST
christmas cookie om the space station to celebrate the launch today at T-57min.
#Exp66
This is insane!
@Aki_Hoshide
The vestibule between
#Pirs
and the rest of the
#ISS
has been partially depressurized. The depress has stopped for the night and will continue tomorrow. Current pressure in the vestibule is 135mmHg.

At Undock-24h both
#Hawthorne
and
#Houston
have given a Go for Undocking (and later splashdown) of
#CRS30
tomorrow at 17:05 UTC. There will be another weather briefing at 05:00 UTC (undock-12h).
#ISS
Thread: Summary of what's going on on board the
#ISS
over this day today:
@AstroMarshburn
woke up early today(at around 05:00 UTC) before the usual wakeup call. I can only assume that sleeping in the current condition isn't the best sleep you can get.

@EmilyLCarney
Let me ensure you that the sane part of space twitter is 100% behind you. Btw. you made my week with these tweets! I had a very good laugh here.
As my internship at
@Busoc_official
come to an end. Today completed my first shift on an
#ISS
console! Under guidance of a certified operator of course, I did not send any commands nor did I talk on the loops but did most of the other tasks.
#NewProfilePicture
DANG it. While I was still recovering from my sleep shifted rhythm due to the
#Crew3
launch/docking the
#ISS
crew got woken up 2h early and had to perform the „safe haven“ procedure due to a satellite breakup.
#ISS
#CosmicKiss
There is an elevated chance that space debris will hit the
#ISS
at 22:21 UTC. Crew has been instructed to perform the safe haven emergency procedure taking shelter in the Soyuz while the mission crontrol teams readies the
#ISS
for a last minute debris avoidance maneuver.
#Exp63
Ok what happened so far:
#ISS
side of the hatch to
#MLM
#Nauka
is open and the pressure equalization between the modules has happened. However that has risen the pressure of the
#ISS
from 746mmHg to 753mmHg indicating a higher pressure inside
#MLM
than on the
#ISS
.
#Exp65
Currently relistening to space to ground calls from earlier this morning and inital estimations where that „safe haven“ protocol would have stayed in place for up to a day since the debris cloud would meet the
#ISS
every 90min.
On December 4th Space Shuttle
#Endeavour
launched with the 1st US
#ISS
module
#Unity
on
#STS88
. Shortly after launch
#Unity
together with
#PMA1
+
#PMA2
were lifted from the payload bay and docked to the shuttle docking adapter:
On the 7th of December the Shuttle/
#Unity
stack docked with
#Zarya
with the famous words: ''Houston, Endeavour -- We have capture of Zarya,'' -
@Astro_CabanaBob
Good morning everyone! This is it. The day we have been waiting for so many years:
#Nauka
#MLM
docking day! This is no drill, this is no exercise anymore: game face is on, wishing everyone best of luck and all the best to everyone involved!

My dad is calling me because he is afraid of being hit tomorrow by a former
#ISS
battery
#EP9
+ wants to know what‘s going on.
#GermanyInANutshell
Time call the orbital police: "
@planet4589
status report! Will my dad be hit by
#EP9
? He currently resides in Essen, Germany."
Short status update from
#ISS
systems (I slept the last 9h): over night the
#ISS
transitioned back to US attitude control using control moment gyros with Russian thrusters assist (standard mode) and is now back flying forward Node 2/IDA2 facing the direction of travel.
#Exp65
Today I embark on a new adventure, a new chapter of my life: today I travel to Munich for my very first business trip to the
#ISS
Columbus Control Center as part of my bachelor thesis I am writing in colaboration with them.
Between December 2nd and December 9th 2000 Space Shuttle
#Endeavour
vistied the
#ISS
with
#STS97
. They added the
#P6
truss element on a temporary basis on top of the
#Z1
truss element to provide the
#ISS
with enough power! Also only 1 of 2 times a shuttle docked to
#Unity
nadir.
Just sent out the probably most important application of my entire life! Don't wanna talk to much about it but I guess everyone knows where it is going...
Fingers crossed now!
Next space debris cloud TCA (time of closest approach) will be between 11:44 and 11:54 UTC in about an hour from now. The hatches to all radial modules stay closed for today and will onlybe opened on request between the TCAs.

@jeff_foust
I want raw video feed, I want regular technical updates and launch control audio and mission control audio. I want views of the control rooms and I want real time telemetry that shows me different flight modes. Not interested in any "so exciting we are launching" stuff.
I am walking through the city of Aachen and all of a sudden come across this poster. Guys I have some questions…
Using a Space Shuttle as a visual graphics, fine, but why the heck did they replace the SRB with some Soyuz upper stage!?
Yesterday I graduated from the most prestigious
@ISUnet
Space Studies Program. Also, I feel super honored to be selected bymy fellow classmates to be the
#SSP24
class representative. Thank you ISU,
@NASA_Johnson
,
@RiceUniversity
and the
@NASA_Gateway
program for that experience.
Please RT:
I've got admitted to the
@ISUnet
#SSP2024
in
#Houston
at
@RiceUniversity
and
@NASA_Johnson
! But there is a catch: I need a total sum of 18 000€ to pay for tuition fees, travel and visa costs. I therefore ask you to support my dream and donate:
YES! I passed Control and Simulation Technologies with a 1.0 (best possible grade in the German grading system). I was totally surprised by that grade, but I gladly take it. Another step towards the finish line. 8 more exams to go.
Sound up: Apparently,
@astro_matthias
has chosen to sleep in Node 2 beside the EMU
**The European-built Node 2 is one of the three International Space Station Nodes. The Nodes are the interconnecting elements between the Station's pressurized modules. **
These realtime operations interfaces are soooooo cool to see! Thanks so much
@BoeingSpace
for providing real time raw data like that! As an aerospace engineering student I am in heaven!

#Starliner
That‘s actually the LiOH canister that is being installed. That‘s the essential element of Dragon‘s open loop life support system: it binds CO2 the astronauts exhale chemically. About 1kg LiOH is needed per day and astronaut.
#ISS
#Ax3
While
@astro_marcus
puts things in place, the rest of the
#Ax3
crew are in contact with ground control for an imminent hatch closure of the Dragon spacecraft.
#Muninn
Between October 13th and October 20th 2000 Space Shuttle
#Discovery
vistied the
#ISS
with
#STS92
. During the visit they added the
#Z1
module to
#Unity
zenith and
#PMA3
to
#Unity
nadir. With
#Z1
added the
#ISS
received the control moment gyros and its first big antennas.
On July 12th 2000 the
#Russian
#ISS
#Zvesda
service module was launched by a
#ProtonK
. This is the main brain of the
#ISS
: reboosts are being done with it, 2 crew quaters it has and the central post is located there!
#BreakingNews
: I just got an email confirming that among 44 other exceptional individuals I‘ve got selected to work during the next 6 1/2 weeks of the
@ISUnet
#SSP24
on the
@NASA_Gateway
team project. Super excited about it and cannot wait to begin the work on it.
Freue mich mitteilen zu können, dass ich bei der Pressekonferenz morgen live vor Ort dabei sein darf. Abends werde ich dann zusammen mit dem
@Senkrechtstart3
die Landung von
@astro_matthias
und die PK nochmals in einem Talk zusammenfassen! Hoffe ihr schaltet ein!
#CosmicKiss
Wer schaltet sich online dazu?
Die erste Pressekonferenz mit
@astro_matthias
nach seiner Rückkehr zur Erde.
Am 11. Mai um 11:45 Uhr aus dem Europäischen Astronautenzentrum EAC der

auf dem
@DLR_de
Gelände in Köln.
#CosmicKiss
#Raumfahrt
Yay! Today the
#ISS
crew opened the
#Node1
overhead CBM hatch to my most favorite place on the ISS: the mini stowage location on the nadir side of the Z1 truss segment. Did you know Z1 has a pressurized segment? It‘s my favorite nerd fact about the
#ISS
.
On the 8th of March 2001 Space Shuttle
#Discovery
launched with
#STS102
and docked 2 days later on the 10th of March to the forward end of
#PMA2
. It had on board the new
#Exp2
crew for the
#ISS
and brought home
#Exp1
. It also had MPLM Leonardo on board with resupply.
#EVAESA
ended after 7h 5min.
@AstroSamantha
broke with that a couple of records: she now holds the record of the single longest spacewalk by an Italian, the longest spacewalk in an Orlan spacesuit by a Non-Russian and the 4th longest spacewalk by a European.
#MissionMinerva
Tomorrow will then finally be also a day off for the Russian crew members on the
#ISS
. Already today was a day off for the USOS crew members. Next week will then be focused on further
#MLM
#Nauka
activation and cargo unloading as well as hopefully the
#OFT2
launch and docking.
When do we humankind finally realize that polluting everything we can will harm us? No matter if it‘s the low earth orbit, the oceans or our atmosphere. How blind must we be to not seeing this!?
Woho!
@astro_luca
is our CAPCOM for today during O2 shift. So nice to hear a European voice on the SG loops. With that "Houston" is being represented for the next 8h by a friendly Italian voice.
#ISS
So the hole the MMOD hit has been sealed temporarily by tape but the
#ISS
Russian crewmember are currently preparing a more permanent patch to fix the hole! Right now the pressure inside the
#ISS
is stable at about 720mmHg normal sea pressure is 750mmHg
