Look, this is a really powerful scene in context. The best part about it is that Yellow Four I's actress was not around to film this. Her actress just disappeared and they had no choice but to write her off because she just went AWOL.
The Philippines' Department of Science and Technology (DOST) took the "Is this a pigeon?" meme by citing the source of the screenshot, the exact episode where it came from in the standard APA citation format.
If there is one Filipino drama that used its 5-episode a week structure format in its advantage, it would be 100 Days to Heaven. Title gave the series this sense of urgency without making you feel its length while being a good family comedy-drama with religious elements.
Yu Yu Hakusho is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. So here's some random trivia about the series, show is known as Ghost Fighter here in the Philippines and their names were localized back in the 90's. Localized names stucked. Pic is their names in the dub.
The reason why JPop is not as popular as KPop is because of one factor: accessibility. You can easily find KPop songs on YouTube and Spotify without any region locks makes it easier to get someone into KPop. JPop tends to region lock things or worse, not post it online.
@lucyqrow
We don't know if she got exploited. All we know is that she just left the show after episode 9. They tried looking for her, but they can't reach her.
My favorite fun fact about this is that this was supposed to be Ultraman, but due to an overseas distribution issues case, it was scrapped. The one piloting Gundam appeared in Kamen Rider W and performed the theme songs in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, the 46th Super Sentai Series.
Random tidbit of the day
In Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, Ichiban Poundmate call animation is based on Kamen Rider transform (or Henshin).
There are many influence, but the most obvious one is Kamen Rider Ex-Aid
I always love this Dairanger roll call, but after knowing the full context on why are doing this, it got cooler. This is the Dairangers at their weakest, which makes it even cooler.
Just found out that Florence Nightingale's great great great grand nephew started playing Fate/Grand Order because of her. Guy's initial reaction about FGO is priceless.

Took me this long to realize that Dungeon Meshi's English title, Delicious in Dungeon is a pun to Dungeons and Dragons. Both even have the same DnD initials.
The impressive part is that this was made with likely a quarter of a budget of an American TV production in 2006... and it still holds up! Kamen Rider Kabuto is really good with their speed scenes.
The Blue Beetle movie is really leaning into tokusatsu that they even have a Power Rangers suit actor in this scene. This better be the big budget American tokusatsu production that I have been waiting to see for years.
A quick, “if you didn’t know,” my buddy, and double for “Koda,” and a HUGE part of the Ranger fam (a decade plus on the stunt team for Rangers NZ,) was the double for this, particularly this moment. Love you Aki! They really put here catering to the sentai/rider aesthetics 🥰
So. You just watched
#FUUTOPI
, you like it, and decided to watch Kamen Rider W, but you are a completionist who wants to watch it in chronological order. Well, here it is.
Super Sentai is currently on their "we can do whatever we want" creative streak where they experimented a lot with what the franchise can do. What I am saying is, Power Rangers is on a creative rut, and they are blaming a factor that has zero relation to said rut.
@TonyWeaverJr
But Dr. Slump was his very first mega hit, then he wrote an even bigger mega hit with Dragon Ball. Man wrote back to back era defining manga.
The first episode of the Pokemon franchise's first live-action series, PokeTsume is now subbed, and four of its cast had some tokusatsu roles.
Nanase Nishino - Shin KR's Hachi Aug
Rio Uchida - KR Drive's Kiriko
Tomoharu Hasegawa - KR Ginpen
Ryo Sekoguchi - Zenkaiger's Stacaesar
(suddenly remembers someone's tweet that the reason why there are a lot of isekai protagonists is because there's no tokusatsu hero who will teach them about traffic safety)
BACK TO BASICS BABY!
Toei, you have an actual English speaking Kamen Rider audience. Be aggressive like Tsuburaya. Throw in the heavy hitters. Make the Rider catalog more widely available.
Boimler doing the Riker maneuver in an episode directed by Jonathan Frakes, who played Riker is just beautiful. I need to stop and absorb it all. At this point, this is easily, the best episode of Star Trek
#StrangeNewWorlds
.
Damn. Not only translated lyrics, but localized logos and credits. Tsuburaya can just call it a day and just dub Ultraman Arc, but they went one step beyond and do this anyway.
Yuka Hirata (Gekiranger's Mele) got featured on Yahoo! News because fans were surprised that she is still hot in her 40s, especially after the release of her recent photo book. This is the cover of said photo book.
Went with Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger as the next Super Sentai that I will try to finish. Every time I see this in the show's opening, all I can hear in my head is, "THERE'S A LIGHT, IN THE DISTANCE, SEE THEM COMING CLOSER!"

If you wanna go technical, yes. This is from Super Sentai, the franchise where Power Rangers got its stock footage from. It's been running since 1975 and running non-stop since 1979. The clip was from the 1984 entry called Bioman. It's popular in the Philippines and France.
@fullytacomatic
@TalesOfMuffin
That is the point. They are overly choreographed because we see Jedi and Sith are at their prime. We see them play a complicated game of x predict what y is doing, which is why it is so smooth.
To those wondering where to watch this, it's streaming on Prime Video... and they barely promote this. I wasn't planning on watching My Undead Yokai Girlfriend until I saw various clips of it online. That's how bad Prime Video promoted this thing.
Yui Koike revealed that apparently, back when Kamen Rider W was airing, kids fainting in the park to imitate Philip's fainting after transformation was a thing.
Yasuko Kobayashi needs to be recognized more. Not only she adapted JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Attack on Titan & Kakegurui for anime, she wrote Casshern Sins, and a lot of Super Sentai, most notably Timeranger & Shinkenger as their major story beats were adapted to Power Rangers.
Remember kids, any piece of Japanese media would always go back to either Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai or Godzilla. There is no escape. Better get acquainted yourself to any of these big tokusatsu franchises boy.
The original Kamen Rider himself, Hiroshi Fujioka kinda compared Captain Marvel to Kamen Rider 1 and his later allies and how they gained a new strength. He did not mention Kamen Rider outright, but it feels like it. Now I want to see the Marvels as Riders 1, 2, and V3.
A Kamen Rider vs. A guy who ended up working on a manga originally made by the creator of Kamen Rider in a heated debate about idols and anime. Perfect.
There is something so oddly refreshing of seeing English language credits in Super Sentai. Like I am seeing an alternate reality where the franchise got a proper US license.
The biggest triumph of Godzilla Minus One is not the budget, but by cutting the middleman and having a director that knows what they are doing and what they want for the movie, you can produce a movie with a really low budget.
According to Hideo Kojima, Godzilla Minus One had a budget of less than $10 million.
“Hollywood seems to have misunderstood, Yamazaki's team made ‘Godzilla Minus One’ with a production budget of less than 1.5 billion yen [$10 million]. It's a quality that can't be achieved by
This was the show that made long time Kamen Rider producer Shinichiro Shirakura say back when he was college, "Kamen Rider has fallen. It's no longer peak fiction" back when he was in college, causing him to work on Toei to change things.
I double checked. Surprised that Reito Matsumoto, the actress who plays Rinne Kudo/Kamen Rider Majade is born in the leap year of February 29, 2008. So technically, she is 4 years old.
Using the Psychic Lover's English version of the Shinkenger OP while Power Rangers Samurai footage is being used is perfect. Samurai is just a watered down version of Shinkenger.
Masaki Suda is in the Parasyte spin-off series, Parasyte: The Grey, and he is playing Shinichi Izumi, who was the main character of the original manga. Shota Sometani played the character in the previous live action films.
Re-reading this, and I need to emphasize this. Power Rangers at its core, is a Japanese-American franchise. If you remove that Japanese aspect, in this case, the tokusatsu roots, it will not feel right. Hasbro knows this since they are still working with Takara for Transformers.
I mean, he is right. He is a legend in tokusatsu. He appeared in Ultraman and Kamen Rider. To be specific, Kamen Rider Build, a show also written by Shogo Muto.
Until Japanese record producers realize that digital is the way to go if they want to conquer the international market, JPop will forever remain niche in the East Asian music scene. Seriously Johnny's, where's the official Arashi YouTube channel?
If you are having a hard time designing Super Sentai or Power Rangers suits, all you need to do is study the Gorenger suits. Observe the basic details such as the chest, belt, helmet, boots, and the elements unique to each hero, and apply it to your designs.
Just a reminder, all three main Kamen Rider films from the 90s, namely: Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue, Kamen Rider ZO, and Kamen Rider J are all legally available for free on YouTube with English subs. Watch them below this thread:
Kento Yamazaki is trending here in the Philippines because of marriage rumors. That was a surprise. Also, he is rumored to marry his Your Lie in April co-star, so there's that. God that movie made me cry.
Just found out last night: Rhett Fisher the titanium ranger from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue has been writing songs for J-pop/K-pop acts for a while now. This is some of his recent stuff.
Like you know Anna has x days left for her to do good deeds or else she will go to hell for her sins, but because of the 5-episode a week structure, the writers can play the length of said 100 days without anyone noticing it.

The only time Super Sentai had a major production break was during the pandemic while they were working on the 44th entry, Kiramager.
No wonder the animation for My Adventures with Superman feels familiar. Series is animated by Studio Mir, the same studio behind Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Hasbro has licensed the Power Rangers brand to Playmates to globally produce and distribute Power Rangers action figures, role play, vehicles, accesories, and more starting in 2025.
Every time there is a marriage between tokusatsu actors, I always do this kind of image for the Orends: Range blog. I think the last time I did this was with Ultraman Zero and Sailor Mars...

Because Philippines and Mexico have the same colonizer, Spain. Didn't help that the two frequently traded during the Galleon trades, hence a lot of exchange with some Filipinos moving to Mexico and vice versa. Basically, the countries are cousins.
I just realized that if Ultraman: Rising's sequel will feature Ken Sato travel to Nebula M78, what will happen if he meets Father of Ultra aka Ultraman Ken? Ken Sato's Ultraman form doesn't have a formal name yet and I just informally refer him as Ultraman Rising.
The funniest thing about Fuuto PI is that instead of using this new anime to get Kamen Rider W licensed by a company ASAP, they just forgot that aspect and assumed everyone that everyone has pirated Kamen Rider W at some point and rolled with it.
The more I watch Kamen Rider Outsiders, the more I conclude that this entire thing is a Kamen Rider Ex-Aid spin-off that went out of the rails and Yuya Takahashi went with the "screw it, it's already out of the rails, what the heck not?" with the rest of the series.
"What is aimed at children?" Is such an important question when it comes to children's entertainment and him pointing out that there are kids wearing Tanjiro's coat from Demon Slayer really highlights it. Takano gets it.
This is a full circle moment for Tom. Afaik he said in an interview that the first Kamen Rider show he watched was 555. Tom transforming into a Riot Trooper is cool on its own, but with that context, it got even cooler.
@AngelKalogerak1
Considering that the adaptation started back when the games were figuring out what to do in the long run, it's the closest we can get for a same universe adaptation at the time.
Megumi Mori confirmed what is pretty much an open secret that the actors themselves are in the suit in the final episode of their respective Super Sentai Series. She even notes that the reason why Blue Dolphin is shorter in Liveman's final episode was because she's in the suit.
"They lived happily ever after, didn't they?"

Another thing that I love about most tokusatsu hero actors is that they are aware to the eyes of the kids and the ones who grew up with them that they will always be seen as the hero role they played and they don't want to destroy that memory.
I'm not one to throw out random toku/mcu comparisons but it's crazy to me that most toku actors are like "yeah that was fun I had a good time working on that!" while most MCU actors are just
