I’m sitting in my car about to go into my apartment and I’m super grateful that that’s my life. Context: there was a time in medical school where I’d have to ask around who could take me in for the December break because I didn’t have a home to go to 💔. Lowest point of my life.

One day we need to have a chat about psychiatric patients in private being given multiple diagnoses. I once saw my aunts diagnosis and script and I was shocked. Not every symptom is a separate disease and some symptoms fall under the same disease spectrum

Let’s say this again. YOUR EMPLOYER HAS NO RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY!!!. If they think a letter is falsified, they call the doctor in question, they verify that you’re a patient. They can even check the validity of that doctors degree. NOTHING ELSE.
1. A sick note may & can be rejected by your manager or HR based on the belief that it could be falsified etc. 2. A Dr can be contacted to provide an understanding of what your symptoms are and their diagnosis. 3. You can be requested to go to in house Dr. Just don’t.

As a medical doctor, I don’t know how the baby was allowed to be taken to the mortuary and not forensics. Everyone in that process needs to be questioned. Even if the baby might have aspirated or something, an autopsy needs to confirm.

I became a doctor because it fits my personality & politics- I take up space to make sure that all that I believe in is catered for in medicine as much as I can. It’s not a side hustle or a “8-4pm”- it’s a commitment to improving peoples lives and experience of the system.

Doctors don’t perform miracles. We practice evidence based medicine. Medicine has it’s limitations. We don’t have a cure or a fix for everything . A person dying/ complicates does not necessarily = negligence . We are not the gatekeepers of the afterlife please.

If you are in a good psychiatric unit, they don’t rush to diagnose. It’s always a working hypothesis initially and they see how you progress with treatment. E.g if you have depression and they start on anti depressants and you become manic, then you had bipolar not both.
