[ARTICLE] #16DaysOfActivism2024 The Centre for Child Law (CCL) calls for continued protection of children from sexual exploitation As the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which shine a much-needed spotlight on this issue, come to an end, the commitment to ending violence must extend across all 365 days of the year. The CCL continues to advocate for the protection of the rights of children, and this is evident from their recent case challenging the “defence of deception" under the Sexual Offences Act, which effectively shifts the blame from the offender to the child victim of a sexual offence and perpetuates harmful stereotypes and rape myths. It is time to hold adults accountable and ensure our laws prioritize the protection of children.
