It was a pleasure collaborating with the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), and Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA) - Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance (NDSI) Secretariat, to co-host the ‘Advancing Sustainable Insurance for Tanzania’s Resilience and Growth’ market event. This event gave us a unique opportunity to discuss with leaders across the insurance sector in Tanzania and Eastern Africa on the role of sustainable insurance as a cornerstone for Africa’s green growth and resilience, laying the foundation for sustainable change in 2025 and beyond. Some of the key takeaways from the discussions include: • Sustainability in insurance is no longer optional, but imperative. As climate risks escalate, we must move beyond traditional models and embrace risk-sharing mechanisms that prioritize resilience, equity, and long-term sustainability. • The agriculture sector and other climate-sensitive industries need innovative risk-sharing solutions now more than ever. • Participatory policy engagement and regulatory support is crucial, with the insurance regulatory sandbox in Tanzania serving as a strong example of enabling innovation. • The emerging role of Insurtech further shows how technology can expand financial inclusion and improve insurance access for all. • There’s a need to change consumers’ perception of insurance products; they must be seen as value-adding, rather than expenses. • The insights and learnings shared during the event are expected to translate into policy reforms, industry innovations, and cross-sector collaborations. Together, let’s ensure that sustainable insurance becomes a cornerstone for global climate resilience, starting right here in Tanzania.

Leo nimepata fursa ya kukutana na watanzania wanaosoma katika Vyuo Vikuu vya Uingereza kupitia  Ufadhili wa Serikali ya Uingereza (Chevening Scholarship) na taasisi ya Mastercard Foundation katika mwaka wa masomo 2024/2025.  Pamoja na mambo mengine wanafunzi hao wameeleza utayari wao kushirikiana na Ubalozi kutoa elimu kwa Umma juu ya fursa za scholarship mbalimbali zinazotolewa na vyuo vikuu vya Uingereza. Vilevile  wamekubali kuwasaidia waombaji wa scholarships kwa kuwapa mbinu za kujiandaa kwa ajili ya kushindania Scholarships hizo.  Tumekubaliana kwamba tutafanya semina hizo mwezi Machi, Mei na Agosti 2025.  Ninawashukuru sana kwa moyo wao uzalendo na utayari wao kuwasaidia watanzania wenzao
