While Ash's battles aren't as visually pleasing I do like the parallel that Alain fought 2 of the Kalos Elite 4 while Ash fought the other 2. I'm sure this was unintended but 1 point to Journey for stumbling into a good parallel.

@DreMeMoTo So I hate this logic cause it completely negates stats. Some characters can be Faster than others but not as strong. And Some characters may have more Ki. But just saying "Higher Power Level equals better at everything!" Kills creativity in battles.

Froakie,Left other trainers due to his arrogance, heart was in the right place but head was bigger than shoulders. Greninja humbled himself and left but on better terms now more accepting of ppl and Pokemon around him. Left because of the weak vs. Leaving to defend the weak.

Even I'll admit Ash and Bonnie moments are the fewest in the series but they're good. They act like each other it's almost like they maxed out their compatibility. They understand each other cause they love Pokemon. It's that Love Ash almost forgot and helped Puni Friend Bonnie.

@DBPerfectShots I don't think ppl take into account the growth these two have had. Vegeta straight up ask Piccolo where he will go after he sacrifices himself. Piccolo gives him the truth, He doesn't sugarcoat it. In M8 He tells Vegeta to stop whining and Help the others. He's an honest comrade!

@King_Sukunaaa Turning into Goku won't help. Goku made it very clear even if you stole his body or made a false version Ben lacks ki knowledge so he would know how to use any of the techniques. No muscle memory or familiarity on the body's patterns.

I know people hate this episode and all, but I really like Serena in this scene she's able to step up to Ash and scold him for acting on instinct. She knew the long term consequence would be him missing registration so she stepped up and took charge, real growth!.

These three really define Ash as a Trainer in this era. Before SM Ash was following a pattern of Pikachu a Reginal Starter (Ace) and the Regional bird. Here we see they are his three strongest and they stay together from start to finish in Kalos. I love this trio! (1/3)

I'm no shipper, but in this series at least, I feel this fight was important for both of them. Ash has never had a straight up battle with his female companions. I'm talking a battle "just because" This was also to help Serena have confidence in her next big move. I like it!.

@LumioseTrainerZ I like Gou's approach to catching here too. He catches all of the Bug-Type Pokemon in Kanto first mostly cause Scorbunny has a type advantage on them. It shows some level of structure and helps us keep track of Pokemon he does have.

This is so weird. because XY Ash is drawn in JN style so JN's Ash is doing a flashback. of a time where he oddly looks older than he does currently. Now yeah the smooth curvey facial features of JN's are seen here, but the build still looks taller and sleeker. odd lol

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring here. SM had 3 battles I can think of that we're good. But XY stayed good consistently art wise and animation wise. Even Ash vs. Clemont (training battles) and Wild battles were on top level.
Remember the time when Pokémon XY battles looked out of the world? 😋. Yeah, it's kinda suprising how a 2013-2016 series looks million times better than anything made afterwards, lol. 🥱. #Anipoke.

In the fight with Serena (impersonating Ash) vs. Jimmy, I remember Jimmy's Pikachu had the move dig. So Serena tells Pikachu to use Iron Tail on the ground so they could hit Jimmy's Pikachu. And she got the idea from watching Ash's battle against Clemont. I like stuff like that!

Journeys has ironically taken the "Journey" out of Pokemon! XD I miss camping too, it gave a brief reprieve a time to unwind and let the trainers and pokemon just chill.
