@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Yes, I contrasted them instead because they aren't saying the same thing as you mistakenly think.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork The first two verses you posted say "repay" and "blessed". Nothing about being delivered from sin or death. The third verse is simply saying that your wealth can't save you.

@ArkansasTomsBBQ @gabrielsposts @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork I'm not sure what you mean by "accuse us of violating old testament scripture". You have less than zero respect now? 😂

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork You're misrepresenting the CARM article. It only says almsgiving doesn't take away sin or death, which is true. Proverbs doesn't make the same claims Tobit does. As far as Leviticus 4, this explains it better than I ever could.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Proverbs 11:4 teaches nothing of the sort. It says riches won't save you. It does not say giving away your riches will. Nothing in the 39 OT books says salvation came by anything but belief.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Most definitely not joking. This is the problem with Catholicism. You know history. You know councils. You know magisterial writings. Then you miss very basic, much more important stuff. How does Scripture tell us Abraham was saved?

@ArkansasTomsBBQ @gabrielsposts @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork I do not reject the 39 books of the Old Testament. Not one Reformed Baptist Christian that I know of does. Do you plan continuing to sit on the sidelines taking childish potshots?

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork You're conflating salvation with forgiveness. The OT didn't teach different. That's what you're not getting. In the OT, people were saved by believing. The believers were forgiven by God through repentance, not the sacrifices. Certainly not almsgiving.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork You don't agree with me that actions didn't forgive sins under the Old Covenant. You guys will never admit it, but you still live like actions bring forgiveness in the New Covenant.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork He could be referring to many people. You think only one Old Testament believer fits that description?

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Actions don't forgive sins. Not sacrifices. Not confessions. Not almsgiving. Not penance. Not indulgences. Thinking they do is why you're stuck in a system like Catholicism.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Why does it have to be a specific martyr? It's still not a quote.

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork So the method of salvation is the same, or different? How about the method of forgiveness?

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Is it the act of sacrifice that brings the forgiveness, or is it God that forgives?

@gabrielsposts @ArkansasTomsBBQ @IndianaBrunner @synodofdork Do you think people were forgiven and saved in different ways between the two Covenants, or in the same way?
