It's amazing how bad Young Justice dropped the ball on Wally. Imagine if he felt responsible for Barry dying because HE wasn't picking up his fair share in that final scene. Imagine Bart seeing his efforts to save Barry ultimately fail. So much more character work. Instead, dead.

It is a massive disservice to Barry as a character that he has been defined FOR YEARS as the guy who can't time travel without fucking everything up, and because of this his entire life is defined by Thawne doing what he can't. When Thawne is supposed to be a SHALLOW IMITATION.

I am not opposed to the basic idea of Thawne using time travel to torment Barry. This isn't even new for him. The problem isn't actually Thawne being a menace.
It's about Barry being a failure. A shell of who he was in the past, unable to stop this man or save himself or others.

The story of Geoff Johns' Barry Allen is that of the saddest failure in the history of the Flash. It is the story of a man who somehow lost all of his capability and heroism. It has been sucked out of him and replaced with a bargain bin Bruce Wayne sob story and nothing else.

CW Zoom this, CW Savitar that. The CW Flash screwed up plenty of characters. It's a very poorly written show. But every other fuck up in the the show PALES in comparison to turning LINDA PARK into a throwaway love interest for BARRY. Unjustifiable dogshit of the highest order.

It is stupid to have Batman make Barry's Flash suit because it removes one of Barry's core features of being a scientist and assigns all intellect on the JL to Batman. Barry built a TIME MACHINE. He can make his own suit. It sucks in Snyder movies, and it sucks in this silly game

Even this doesn't break the cycle of Barry's life being defined by the fact that he fails to stop Thawne, though. They just overuse Thawne so much that, yeah, he gets beat within the episode. But the looming specter over Barry's character never leaves. He's still sad dead mom boy

Barry puts on the Flash suit in the very next page. His weird disposition is part of the ongoing plot.
In the VERY SAME COMIC, Irey calls Barry the best because of how smart he is. And says she learned that from Wally. You people are so mad about a comic you DIDN'T. EVEN. READ.

Also they didn't even know it was Bart, and didn't think it would kill him! Bart temporarily lost his powers here, so the Rogues are firing at him thinking he's got full on speedster powers that can take it. Even with BAD writing they know the Rogues wouldn't normally do this.

Like if you don't really care that Wally got basically no arc in the show except becoming Artemis's boyfriend so he could die and make her sad, then fine. More power to you. But people telling me this was some great adaptation of Wally: WHERE? It's BARELY an adaptation.

Wally in comics, obviously clears. Miles in adaptations, because he actually gets adaptations thanks to being part of a significantly more popular franchise (Spider-man). Wally has no chance of ever closing that gap, Miles could one day close the comics gap but it's unlikely

The showrunner refused to read the greatest Flash comics ever, the core Wally stories, because he doesn't like the idea of the Speed Force despite not reading it. We got one MIKE BARON story adapted and nothing from Waid except Bart. Putting Baron over Waid is criminal.

The show was done with Wally as a character the second he kissed Artemis, and it didn't want much to do with him before that besides comic relief. It might be the last time we ever see Wally with any significant screen time in an adaptation, too. Misery, thy name is me.

You have to have a completely dead imagination to think you can't tell a good story with Superman because he's powerful. All superheroes, from Batman up to Spectre, are only as powerful as the story needs them to be. Superman's draw is only tangentially related to his power level

The biggest difference between what Waid and Taylor is doing, besides the obvious enormous quality difference, is that when Waid takes those retrospective looks with WF he's committing time to redefining it. Taylor did a flashback to force in a faltering storytelling beat.

3 minutes is not particularly long in most competitive TCGs in constructed. Admittedly Master Duel turns are faster than real life because it automates shuffling and searching. Yugioh is the most combo centric major trading card game, no doubt, but not 37 minute turns long.

My personal solution is we one day get an Double Reverse Flash Rebirth which is just 20 pages of Barry punching Thawne in every situation where Thawne was time travelling to do something evil. Not a single word in the entire comic. Just hundreds of punches.

On Wolfman, his work is considered seminal for the Teen Titans but it's really abysmal for Wally. The Teen Titans were peace rally flower power kids, Wally included, and this sudden shift to being a right wing stick in the mud was Wolfman trying to get Wally OUT of the comic.
