At an event at Stormont today, I asked Executive parties; if they are aware that 1 in 5 children are living in poverty in our communities right now - why is this not a priority for them? If they are aware that more people are relying on foodbanks just to survive – why is this not a priority for them? And if this Executive is aware that more people are struggling to heat their homes and living in cold, damp houses, impacting their health and that of their children – why is it not a priority for them? It’s time they implemented a long overdue Anti-Poverty Strategy here, and importantly, start putting people first! Poverty is a political choice - #AntiPovertyStrategyNow!
