Spicy take: The VR industry isn't dying - the market is naturally selecting the survival of the fittest and at the end, products with a high utility value / strong revenue model will emerge more resistant to tumultuous market conditions. No more high risk speculative VC plays.

10 years ago I co-instructed a course in virtual worlds. Out of 100 students not a single one ended up staying in Second Life after the semester. The biggest question I received was "Why do we need this, and how does it improve my RL?" Meta now needs to answer the same question.

Looking back it's wild seeing VRChat's evolution from having an education and VR industry townhall focus vs what the platform is today. That's the beauty of emergence in social VR - in the end it's up to the users to shape the culture and define what the world should be.

I'm devastated by the loss of my friend and coworker - Gold. In the time that I knew him, he was incredibly helpful and always went out of his way to uplift the people around him. He made the world and the VRChat community a better place, and will be dearly missed.

I think people have this unfortunate misconception that it's either AI *or* the Metaverse, when in reality generative AI and social VR go together like cookies and milk. I see this as less of a pivot and more of a much needed parallel initiative.

VRChat groups have been out of open beta for less than a week and are already proving to be an important part of community discoverability. IMO one of the most important feature updates in a while.

Social VR is becoming a powerful therapeutic tool for helping trans people navigate gender dysphoria and was an instrumental part of my own journey. There’s a lot to unpack on this topic but I think it’s one worth exploring more in the future. More on this soon.

I’m thankful for VRChat and the friends that I made in it. Words cannot express how much it helped me through an incredibly difficult time when I lost my mom to cancer in 2020. It’s still an important part of my life and it’s made me a believer in the therapeutic value of VR.

I recently had a discussion with a surgeon about the effects of wearing a VR headset for hours every day. According to him prolonged pressure can accelerate volume loss in the midface. After hearing this I'm pretty sold on switching to a Bigscreen Beyond HMD.

First impression: The resolution is mind-blowingly good. I've never seen VRChat look so crisp in an HMD, even in 90hz mode with the sharpness difference vs 75hz. There's a little brain and eye re-training needed vs the Index but it's so light and comfy. I can't imagine going back
