@ByEricPratt @nut_history Gambler used Hoberg's devices to bet on games Hoberg was umping, including a WS game,from Hoberg's house. MLB can't let that go. It's a settlement, Hoberg & union are on board, & he can apply for reinstatement in 2026 although nothing is guaranteed.

@stateofMIman @TheCheeseArmy @TigersJUK Tigers are owned by an Ilitch family trust, the details of which are unknown. Wings are owned by Ilitch Holdings. In the Freep article yesterday. But your notion applies, Chris may not be able to just do whatever he wants w/out consulting family members.

Ovechkin is a phenomenal player doing amazing things. As he approaches the "record" of 894, I point out that Gordie Howe had 975 goals between the NHL & WHA. Bobby Hull had 913. Both played creditably (as old men) in the NHL after the merger. Just sayin'.

"Say what you want about the record and empty-net goals... what I see is a player that has an incredible ability to read where the puck is going." The Capitals discuss Alex Ovechkin, how empty-netters factor into his chase & his importance at 5-on-6:

@totallytigersbb @AaronGleeman @CodyStavenhagen You can dream, Holly. Even if they sign Bregman it will be "more, more, more."

@tigermike1975 I was not a fan of giving Flaherty 3+ years. 1 year plus incentives for a second? I'm all over that. Terrific move. I'd say the odds of them eating $10M on Kenta Maeda just doubled.

@tigermike1975 Fangraphs had him at #37 for Rays, love his arm and defensive potential, think he makes it as a backup. He hasn't hit well but was much-improved last year. Tigers were going to lose Faedo for nothing. Need to dfa another to sign Flaherty.

@tigermike1975 That was a kick-ass win. 12-4-1 under McClellan.

@tigermike1975 Expect Tigers offered north of $200M. Boras just laughed & called it non-competitive. He's not a FA yet Scott, & he's had 2 major arm injuries. Tigers have tried hard to spend some big dough this off-season; Boras doesn't want it. Even Mets have basically told him to fuck off.

@MLBcathedrals Saw the Braves and Giants in 1965, last year in Milwaukee. Mays, McCovey, Marichal, Aaron and Mathews all played. Joe Torre, Rico Carty, Felipe and Matty Alou. I was 9. About 6000 people there.

@tigermike1975 Kim gone as you note. Flaherty would be an upgrade, but they'd likely have to eat Maeda's deal to do it. Not sure that's happening. I'd love Bregman for 2 years, but I hate 5-6 at that kind of dough. Sign Randal Grichuk to mash LHP & let Jung & Vierling share 3B.

@ACumbow More or less. Three shot clock violations suggests MSU had was shutting them down, but the Gophers couldn't hit anything and had some bad turnovers to boot.

@NickMilanovich @DetroitTankCity @tigermike1975 @GregEno @IffyTheDopester @ChrisCasquejo @dclynick66 @cardio64 @KenKalDRW @TBonesPrimeCuts @iancass I do think it was critical for the Lions to get the 1st seed this year, because they were so beat up and needed the week off, more than the home field advantage. It wasn’t enough. In a normal year, without 7 or 8 defensive starters hurt, the seeding should be less important.
