@anitathetweeter I need to see this whole article, this is glorious, we got a summerhouse intending it to be the last bastion of an adult space in our lives - it now has a trampoline in it.

An amazing day, with Thurrock hosting @Keir_Starmer and the Shadow Cabinet to launch our first steps. An inspirational set of pledges and local resident Haruna introduced Keir’s speech setting them out. It’s clear that a changed Labour Party will deliver on Thurrock’s priorities.

@amateuradam @MrNishKumar Thanks for reply and apology accepted - having done the whole pregnancy and birth thing, I think forcing a woman to undergo it is unconscionable, just keen that families who continue with pregnancies where a foetal anomaly is detected aren’t stigmatised further.

@amateuradam @MrNishKumar Those of us with children who had “foetal abnormalities” find it pretty upsetting that the prospect of more children like ours is raised as a horrific spectre by people who we’d hoped were allies. Also current legislation permits termination at 39wks 6days with foetal anomolies.

What a message the people of Thurrock have sent to the rotten Tory administration - and some fantastic new Labour representatives joining their hard working colleagues on the Council @vikian21 @thurrocklabour.
The deafening moment that the Conservative leader of Thurrock Council, Mark Coxshall, loses his Chafford and North Stifford ward seat to Labour. #LocalElections2023 .

Liz Truss’s economic gamble created misery for people in Thurrock sending mortgages sky rocketing for thousands of local households. Our Tory MP should be standing up for us, but instead has accepted a gong from her mate who was forced to resign after just 49 days in office.

Securing the Good Friday Agreement is one of the Labour Party's proudest achievements. Today we pay tribute to the incredible Mo Mowlam, who was instrumental in making it happen. Labour will always work to secure peace and prosperity for future generations in Northern Ireland.

Yes this! This is how you run a decent immigration policy, while upholding our international obligations/basic humanity.
Labour’s plan will go after gangs, clear backlog/end hotel use, get new agreement w France & others on returns, family reunion & reforming resettlement to stop dangerous crossings. Tory Bill is con that makes chaos worse. Government by Gimmick. Only Labour will get a grip

Absolutely shocking - a 10% increase in council tax is going to really hit hard - and staggering that the supposed mechanism (a referendum) to make sure that residents’ voices are heard is bypassed - we need more transparency, more accountability - not less!!!.
Today three local authorities, beset by huge financial problems entirely of their own making, have been given permission to hike council tax far beyond the usual limits. How can it be right that residents of Thurrock, Croydon and Slough will pay the price for these scandals?.

We desperately need better maternity care here - our midwives are overworked and under enormous pressure and it’s women in Thurrock who are paying the price - I’m determined to keep pushing this issue, everyone deserves to feel confident and cared for when giving birth.
Local women tell of traumatic experiences with maternity unit and issues with back-up care after giving birth

Thurrock has the second worst waiting times for GP’s in the country - spoke to someone with COPD on the doorstep yesterday who’s developed a chest infection that they can’t shake and hasn’t been able to see their GP - this must change.
You should be able to get a GP appointment when you need one. Labour will end the postcode lottery for GP appointments, training 7,500 more doctors a year and guaranteeing face-to-face appointments. Vote Labour on Thursday 4 May to cut waiting times.

Great to see Orsett Fire Station reopen this week, thank you to all the firefighters for their dedication to keeping our community safe and for everyone who worked hard to ensure a continuous service while the refurbishment happened.
Today we held a small opening ceremony for Orsett Fire Station, which has re-opened this week after being refurbished. Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive Officer Rick Hylton welcomed crews back to their station and thanked everyone who has been a part of this project.
