This is how mediaplay works. A bomb drops and then suddenly backup stories from unreliable sources surface and are thrown at the audience before the shock has worn off. The overwhelm of information keeps them from seeing how the stories never made sense in the first place.

Mediaplay is done to cause speculation and keep an audience captivated and talking. Think “hints” and “clues”. People getting “caught”. The audience thinking they’re just too smart to have figured it out. It doesn’t have to be for the benefit of either party.
