PD Saka from the Devon and Cornwall Police Dog Unit was called to assist after a suspect wanted for high-risk domestic abuse committed more serious offences against his ex-partner and fled the property. Saka tracked and located the male near the victim's address, and the suspect made the very unwise decision to try to run away. Unfortunately for him, PD Saka was much faster, and he is now in custody. Well done PD Saka πππΆπ¬π§

We are very sad to learn of the passing of serving PD Koko from Warwickshire Police, who took ill suddenly on Sunday evening. Koko's handler has shared a moving tribute in her memory below. RIP Koko, thank you for your service, you may now stand down. ππΆπ¬π§π "You have been the best crewmate, colleague, and friend anyone could wish for. We have been together for 7.5 years and you never once failed or let me down. You were most definately a challenge in the first few months thatβs for sure, you were the cleverest dog that Iβve ever known opening doors & gates and running havoc at kennels. But then we turned a corner, I totally loved the rebel in you & I think you decided you might want to love and protect me back. You protected the streets of Warwickshire fiercely, found numerous pieces of evidence that would have been missed & we had some great tracking results & arrests togetherβ¦but you did also like to find me the postman or especially a hedgehogβ¦π¦ You were actually the softest & sweetest girl ever and loved playing games with other colleagues at jobs. Thank you for being you, for being the best, it was a privilege to be by your side until the end. I will carry your paw prints in my heart forever." πΎ

βThis case is quite concerning because handlers will be thinking when theyβre going to a call βWhat if something happens to my dog? Are the force going to back me up?β Police dogs are so dynamic, they face often dangerous scenarios and itβs important that management give handlers and dogs their full, backing, support and veterinary care. Itβs absolutely vital." Retired Police Scotland dog handler Linda McBride is supporting our open letter to Chief Constable Jo Farrell, requesting an investigation into the death of Police Dog Zara. π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπΆπ Read the full article here:

Today, our Chairman Kieran was at Sussex Police Headquarters with RPD Bear, his owner Julia, and Chief Constable Jo Shiner, filming for a TV programme that will feature our foundation later this year. RPD Bear was the star of the show, and weβre incredibly proud of his heroic work in finding a vulnerable missing person and ultimately saving the manβs life. π₯πΆππ¬π§

Happy 8th Birthday to RPD Captain, who served with West Midlands Police. π Last September, we raised Β£13,000 to fund spinal surgery for Captain, due to the wear and tear on his spine from his career as a police dog. Unfortunately, after further MRI scans, the damage to Captain's spine is so severe that he will need to undergo a number of procedures in order to try and repair it. Captain was too weak to undergo surgery last year, so instead, he has been receiving weekly physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to build up his strength to cope with the impact of surgery, fully funded by the foundation, thanks to your generous donations. Captain is making good progress, and once he is strong enough, the orthopaedic and neurosurgeons will reassess him for surgery. Stay strong, Captain β you're doing so well, and we are really proud of you. ππΆπ¬π§

We would like to wish a very Happy 11th Birthday to RPD Bo, aka Mr. Chip, from Leicestershire Police. Bo lived with and was a great mentor and friend to PD Zyla, who tragically passed away on duty last year. They were the best of friends, and Bo misses his pal greatly. Thank you for your service, RPD Bo! ππΆπ¬π§

Following last week's article in the Sunday Mirror regarding the death of Police Dog Zara from @PoliceScotland, our foundation wrote to Chief Constable Jo Farrell and requested an investigation into Zara's death. Police dogs are policing colleaguesβthey hold the thin blue line in some of the most challenging and highly dangerous incidents. They would give their lives in a heartbeat to protect their handler and the wider policing family. It is our collective responsibility to ensure they are treated with the utmost respect and that no expense is spared in their access to veterinary treatment. ππ¬π§πΆ Read our open letter in full here: You can read this week's Sunday Mail article here:

Last night, PD Jura from Leicestershire Police assisted colleagues with a male who didn't want to stick around during a vehicle stop. Jura was hot on his heels, tracked him through the nearby streets, and located him hiding in a rear garden. The male again tried to escape, but this time PD Jura made sure it wasnβt going to happen. Great work, PD Jura! πππ¬π§πΆ

@Douglas4Moray @K9Finn Thank you for raising this important issue. Police dogs play an integral role in policing and all efforts need to be made, to ensure they have access to the best veterinary treatment when injured.

Can you offer PD Demon from Durham Constabulary a home? After six years of loyal service, Demon is looking for his forever family, one that will spoil him rotten after his dedicated and loyal service. Demon is a brindle Dutch Herder, approaching his 8th birthday. He could live with sociable spayed females or smaller sociable male dogs but would not be suited to a household with another dominant male or cats. Unfortunately, Demon is also not suitable for homes with young children. If there are children in the household, they should be older, confident, and have an understanding of the breed. He is a very strong boy with lots of energy to burn, so he will need an active family who can keep up with the exercise he requires daily to stay physically and mentally stimulated. Demon is a high drive, energetic dog who loves nothing more than a belly rub. If you are interested in offering Demon a loving forever home, please email: kennelstaff@durham.police.uk πΆπ¬π§π

Weβre deeply upset to hear about the death of PD Zara from Police Scotland, and our thoughts are with her handler and everyone who knew her and worked with her. Police dogs play a vital role within policing and dedicate their lives to helping us fight crime If theyβre injured or fall ill then all efforts should be made to ensure they have access to the best veterinary care and are given every chance to recover so they can return to duty or retire to live out their days with a loving family with the support of our foundation. Rest in peace, PD Zara πππ¬π§πΆ Read full story here:
