It's time to explore alternatives to scientific communication. I opened a account on #Mastodon ThierryGrange@mastodon.social

👍 Indeed, the other site with the butterfly 🦋 and the sky of a sunny day is much better for scientific exchanges😊

Any scientists who are on here to have an honest conversation about research, share papers, discuss science culture, etc. I think it's time to stop, and go to the other site. If you think you're here to make some kind of stand, I respectfully find that rather naive. #LogOff

Very sad. A great loss. She was a brave and dedicated woman. The daughter of our Ukranian archaelogist collaborator Sasha Yanevitch.

An interesting piece of evidence about the beginning of sheep domestication and its spread into Europe thanks to our collaboration with the Metu group, where we brought a perspective from Neolithic France.

@ezgimou @ankarabbld Dear Ezgi. Do your politicians listen to these kinds of popular complaints? Here in France, they don't bother if there are one million people in the streets or even if they lose other elections than the presidential election. They do what they want in between two elections.

"La recherche est un système qui doit se protéger sur le long terme. C'est investir sur le futur. Si on continue à couper la recherche qui a déjà été coupée au delà de ce qui était possible, on va atteindre un point de non-retour... On va être déclassé complètement. "

Merci à Yasmine Belkaid de dire l'essentiel aussi clairement. Le déclin de la recherche en France aura des conséquences durables dont on ne se remettra pas: "Couper encore plus le budget de la recherche, c'est irresponsable" via @franceinter

Yes, he was the sole one who did not use the 2008 Lasker as an antichamber of the Nobel. Plants are doomed for Nobel in medicine?

An interesting criticism of a preprint about selection with strong claims that were too strong to be fully convincing.

My lab read this paper for journal club, and had some thoughts on the strong claims made about the number of signals of selection found. 1/

A very nice collaboration of our team at @IJMonod with Metu. All you wanted to know about an extinct Eurasiatic wild ass lineage that thrived into Europe and Anatolia up to the beginning of the Holocene.
