@John170711 @CameronCrawf_ @W_C_Giants @Espngreeny That is the whole point. As the game changes, the stats for the position changed. Comparative to his generation, he is t a HoF player, IMO. In 16 seasons starting, he made the playoffs 6x. He wasn't a QB who could carry his team with his own play.

@John170711 @CameronCrawf_ @W_C_Giants @Espngreeny Ok, show me examples of ANY former player saying ANY other former pkayer(s) should t get in.

@CameronCrawf_ @John170711 @W_C_Giants @Espngreeny The point is, all the guys in the top 10 in front of him are his contemporaries. Meaning, he played at the same time as them for multiple, 8 to 10, seasons. So, with his Peer group he's not one of the top eight.

@ProFootballHOF @nflnetwork @visualedgeit How in God's name wasn't McDaniel enshrined in his first year? People crying about @EliManning? That guy was 7x 1st team/2x 2nd team All-Pro and made @NFL all decade and all century teams. Truly one of the best to ever play the position.

@John170711 @W_C_Giants @Espngreeny You have to adjust stats for when he played. The game changed; rules favoring offense and protecting QBs were big factor. Notice all the QBs ahead of him. Other than Favre/Marino, they are all guys from the same era. In 20 years, he won't be top 20. You compare him to his peers.

@W_C_Giants @Espngreeny "The media's hatred of Eli." Please show me the 'well know hatred' in examples. This couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth.

@Espngreeny Everyone needs to get a grip. He's going to get in. If you want to see a guy 'snubbed' look at Randall McDaniel 7x 1st team All-Pro, 2x 2nd team. On both @NFL all 90s and 100th anniversary team and didn't get into @ProFootballHOF until his 3rd year. That's a HoF career.

@GaryMyersNY @Profhofcantonf @ROOMWAGE @ProFootballHOF Gary, you can't compare him to players who came before him. Rules made passing easier and playing QB safer. Add, the top 10 in yards/TDs are all his contemporaries, ex Favre and Marino. In 20 years, he likely won't be in the top 20 in either. Put Fouts and Moon in today's game.

@art_stapleton Hall of Fame moments don't mean you have a Hall of Fame career. Everyone is entitled to their own definition. I see being a 'Hall of Fame' player as someone who consistently performed at the highest level during the majority of his career, when compared to his peers of his era.

@OhhMar24 Is he? So, he should win this year because of his stats. Yet, last year he won because he carried the team even though he wasn't top 10 in almost every category. Personally, I think it's a dumb award and could care less. Stats don't always win the award.

@OptaSTATS @Ravens Now, go look at his 2023 stats compared to the other finalists and explain why he won. Who cares about an award that has ZERO way of being proven. It's totally subjective.

@TorreySmithWR Who cares. He won last year when his numbers weren't the best because voters felt he carried the team. This year they felt that way for Allen. Move on. People know he's great. Another MVP doesn't validate him.

@tommylugauer Last I checked, Eli threw 3 TDs, combined, in those 2 games. How does he get credit for holding the #1 and #3 offenses to 17 and 14 points? He was a really good player and had 2 great runs. He also missed the playoffs 10x in the 16 years he started.

@TylerNubinMVP He's 11th in both yards and TDs. Marino and Favre are the only 2 who didn't play during his era when rule changes favored throwing the ball. So, can't use cumulative stats. In 10-15 years, he's likely not in top 20 on these lists. You compare him to his peers, not who is in.

@NFLFrascella Ok..now, for an 'apples to apples' compare Elway to his peers during his era and Eli to his peers during his era. The game changes, rules favor passing and protecting QBs. In 20 years, he won't be in the top 20 of any categoy with the possible exception of INTs. Good, not great.

@bigblue2656 He's not top 10 in passing TDs, passing yards, completions, completion %. More everyone ahead of him, except Marino and Favre are contemporaries. So, during his era he was good, just not great. You compare him to his peers, not everyone in the Hall. The game changes.

@ryandisdier You don't compare Eli to guys who played in the 80s and 90s. The game has changed. You compare him to his peers. If you're letting in more than 5 guys from any 8-10 year era it waters down the value of getting a bust.
