@tyabann_da There'd be even less reason to stay than when tumblr did it, which is really sad when you think about it.

@srviruel I remember having similar kinds of huge open world battles during the Tera beta/early release, but it only lasted a month or so before those kinds of fights died off. Not really encountered much similar since.

@tyabann_da Them being completely unafraid of breaking the game in bozja (and adding lots of game breaking things) was probably the best part about it, can't really do that with normal content. Just look how salty people are about picto being 5% better than other jobs in ultimate.

@konosaitohadame @HiddenRefuge @TheZackZeal None of those are VNs though... or did you miss that that's what we're talking about?

@Written_Riot I do get it, some games have been done dirty for sure, but people project that on everything no matter who's involved. It just kinda sucks, I'd like to talk more about the work we do and be excited for new releases but it's hard to do that in the current atmosphere.

@tyabann_da My take is that if they're relevant to the setting or story they should stay otherwise it's usually better to use the text to convey their meaning. English movies in Japanese use honorifics because that's just how Japanese works, they're not lesser for not having them originally.

@Hakuoro1912 I'm more on the fans side than most think... but man, looking at these replies, I don't see how you can have that conversation. Apparently I've brought down a load of shit in my replies by complaining about that guy, and that guy was just replying to a post about supporting devs.

@Hakuoro1912 It's tough to balance accessibility/readability vs accuracy, though I'm mostly on the sidelines, as programmer I'm not involved in those decisions myself. I think harassing staff isn't going to push them to see your side though, spite is (unfortunately) a powerful motivator.

@tyabann_da @envinyon They could at least try to make the writing less bad for those two cutscenes, surely they could write a short story or two that doesn't make you want to stab yourself.

@HiddenRefuge @TheZackZeal Ah I'm sorry if I sounded rude, I get a little defensive sometimes. I'm not blind, I've seen firsthand decisions that don't respect the fans and audience, so I get it. But it kinda sucks to get grouped into that out of hand on projects where we've put in our best effort.

@patyos2 @TheZackZeal I do think it's funny (in a sad way) that the first game with it's full adult content approved by Steam, Kindred Spirits on the Roof, which was hand reviewed/approved by management and marked the shift in policy on adult games, would in no way be accepted now. Not a chance.

@picnic_sensei @TheZackZeal I don't know enough about 9-nine or Sekai's internal processes to comment about the game's decisions, but I do think it's worth noting that Sekai's 18+ arm Denpasoft has published 38 titles since 9-nine's final episode, relatively free (as far as I'm aware) of controversy.

@picnic_sensei @HiddenRefuge @TheZackZeal Players do care about honorifics a lot, which is unfortunate because the lack of an English equivalent will always be an issue. As for 9 nine I haven't played it myself but I think she's always changing up how she refers to her brother, which is how that ended up in there.

@kAjtji_ @TheZackZeal That's... not far off. Some titles do a bit better, and steam helps if you can use it. Notably nekonyan seems to have found a solid formula where releasing with Chinese support it not only brings in their much larger player base but boosts steam's recommendations in English too.
