... And yet another wedding anniversary! Won't mention how many years 🤫. The "Then" photo taken just after our Class 12 boards (ISC), and the "Now" photo taken today 😀
31 years today 🙂. The "then" photo was taken in 1986, almost 37 years ago, when we were in first year college (she at BITS Pilani, me at Dartmouth). Our open-air wedding on a cold 1992 evening was adjacent to the Qutab Minar, with aircraft on approach to DEL flying overhead 😀
As I had said earlier, crew are human too. It must have taken a lot to get her to breaking point. Over the years I have seen crew slapped and abused on board flights, called "servant" and worse. Hope she is fine despite the pressure she must be under.
Tempers soaring even mid-air: "I am not your servant"

Goa is witnessing a 30 per cent decline in footfalls of tourists this year.. High GST on hotels, hiked airfares part of the problem.. larger issue: has Goa tourism simply failed to move to next level.. Goa has so much more to offer than a Phuket yet well behind in tourism..
Am delighted to share that I will be joining the Oberoi Group as President effective June 1, 2021. Oberoi is a storied brand and wonderful institution, a true home-grown and world class Indian success story. I am honoured and privileged to be joining them (1/2)
Incorrect analogy. Dubai was not built for such heavy rains - rains that would flood most cities. A better analogy would be if it suddenly snowed heavily in Bombay, which was obviously not built to handle snow at all. Would people in snowy Oslo mock Bombay?
To those saying India will clean up its streets when per capita income goes up... countries with lower per capita income are much cleaner. And India at street level has remained filthy for last 50 years or more though per capita income has gone up multifold since then.
Tokyo, the world's largest city in population. Yet you will never find a broken footpath or a piece of garbage on the road. And there are very few garbage bins in the city due to past terror risks - people just don't litter! They take their litter with them to dispose of later.
India is not letting foreign tourists in from any country in any case, only Indian passport holders, OCIs, and business visas allowed in. There is hardly any international business travel into India, thee only ones majorly impacted will be OCIs, who are the Indian diaspora.
At that time there was no unruly pax policy in India. This was one of the incidents that led to that to be introduced eventually. As I have always said, the customer is always right... until he (or she) is wrong. Physical or verbal abuse or humiliation is NEVER acceptable.
I was very closely involved in the drafting of the passenger rights charter with the airlines & then MOCA. Airlines are supposed to let passengers off after max 4 hours on board if no clarity on departure time. However for that you need to be parked at a gate or parking bay. 1/n

Indian aviation safety record overall is up there with the best, and Indigo has a record any airline would be proud of. These incidents can happen to any airline. Machines can malfunction. Aviation is the safest mode of travel, especially in India and esp compared to road travel.
I recall an incident some years ago where a new crew, just 19 years old, was slapped by a pax because his meal choice was not on board. I met her the same day, she was inconsolable and said this is not what she signed up for. She quit flying the same day.

The Vistara playlist covering the ~4 years where I personally curated the music. The idea was to create a warm, welcoming, and nostalgically familiar soundscape esp for corporate pax in their 40s and 50s, music they grew up to or enjoyed in college days.
Vistara is one of those rare products where brand identity and brand experience overlapped in perfect harmony.
The purple looked different from the sea of reds being plastered on every airline. The in-flight rock album playlist before take-off, played at lobby music volume,
Thank you all for your positive and supportive comments, it means a lot to us and to all crew everywhere. To those asking why this crew was napping in the lounge: she was on a break between flights, and the lounge was specifically provided for the crew to rest in. Thank you.
@elonmusk
The blue tick was not about different standards or creating an elite class. It was to prevent identity theft / confirm identity of public or known figures. It served a useful function.
In most Indian cities, zebra crossings, lane markings and signage, STOP signs, etc are put up as decorative elements to make the roads and highways look "modern". There is zero thought put into the science and functionality behind all this, and clearly also zero training.
BMC you had one job to do!
Do you think humans are kangaroos who can jump over the medians/metro pillars?
Freshly painted zebra crossing just before PM Modi's Roadshow on LBS Road, outside Godrej, Vikhroli.
How did these guys get their jobs in the first place?
@SanjuktaChoudh5
You are right. I only grew up there, and go there multiple times a year and took this photo myself. Or perhaps you think this is an AI-generted photo?
The aircraft did not catch fire. The engine exhausted or expelled flames after what appears to be some FOD ingestion or perhaps a bird strike. Incidentally engines are always on fire... it is called combustion, and that is what generates power and propels the aircraft.

I said
1. Crew are human too.
2. Must have taken a lot to get her to breaking point.
I said nothing about the passenger. However we know from the video that another crew was reduced to tears after interaction with this passenger, and he used the term "servant". Thanks.
The lovely New Goa International Airport at Mopa. Just 40 minutes from north Goa beaches, and under an hour from Panjim. A world class airport the gives the feel of landing in a tropical paradise.
Bentota, Sri Lanka. Three things that have struck me about Sri Lanka: 1. Cleanliness 2. Traffic discipline (people stick to lanes, honking is rare, no one going wrong way on one-ways, trucks sticking to the left lane) 3. Highway quality, management, and signage (world class).
Bangalore, Gurgaon, Kolkata... why are our overground / overhead metro stations such artless concrete eyesores? Take a look at Dubai (right) compared to Bangalore (left). And this Dubai station was probably built 10 years ago!

A willing (? 😉) model for her dad since she was a baby, she returns to Chicago tomorrow. Pictured here as a 1.5 year old in December 2001, and a 20 year old yesterday. Time flies!
Finally got to fly the two aircraft that ny former product development and marketing teams conceptualised and executed. Note the window in the lav - a feature I enjoy (when airborne, of course 😂)
Basis my recent observations, I think airports are doing the best they can. The bottleneck is security - seems everything has to come out of bags except clothes! Takes 3-5 times per pax relative to global standards. That is what needs to be streamlined and modernized urgently!
Amidst the stories of chaos at airports due to fog, well done to Vistara, which we flew yesterday from DEL to CCU for the immersion of my father's ashes. Flawless airport experience at both ends, and a good flight. Excellent wheelchair handling for my mother. Thanks
@airvistara
My father passed on this morning. He was suffering quite a lot lately, finally he is at peace. He had a good life and took care of his family and loved ones well. May his soul rest in peace.
and look forward to working with the Oberoi family from whom I will have a lot to learn. Quality, brand, operational & service excellence, and above all basic human decency are things I am truly passionate about, and those are the essence of the Oberoi DNA and culture. 2/2
... And again yet another wedding anniversary! 🙂Still won't mention how many years 🤫. The "Then" photo taken at BITS Pilani in our college days (Upasna went to college there), and the "Now" photo taken today at Safdarjang's Tomb in Delhi.
It is sad to see another airline suspend operations. This is in addition to the lengthy delays in getting Jet off the ground again. This is not good for consumers, to be heading towards concentration of such a large market to just 2 or 3 players. Need at least 4 strong airlines.
Made a day-trip to Leh with the son today. Was -10c when we landed, but with strong sun and warm clothes, didn't feel that cold. Ladakh, even for a couple of hours, is a photographer's paradise! My son's first glimpse of it, and he loved it!

A very emotional moment for all the wonderful folks who have been working hard to get Jet back in the skies. This was a test flight, not a proving flight. The aircraft will position to Delhi this evening. Proving flight to be scheduled in the coming days from Delhi.
@jetairways
Today, May 5, our 29th birthday, Jet Airways flew again! An emotional day for all of us who have been waiting, working, and praying for this day, as well as for Jet's loyal customers who can't wait for Jet to commence operations again.

Kingfisher Airlines started operations 15 years ago today, on May 9, 2005. It will be remembered for creating a product and experience that was flashy but premium, to counter Jet's more understated premium image. Not to everyone's taste for sure, but certainly had lots of fans!
In memory of those who tragically lost their lives on 26/11. 30 at the Oberoi and Trident hotels, 31 at the Taj Mahal hotel, and scores more at CST station, Leopold Cafe, Metro cinema, Chabad House, and elsewhere.

AIrport entry queues and ID / ticket checks - India is the only major country I am aware of that requires this. Wonder if there is a way forward that does not require this bottleneck. Digiyatra helps for the digitally-savvy, but is not there for International yet
So we had safety cards prepared for both types (to keep people guessing! 😉) in preparation for the then planned Oct ops launch. These are the top sections or "headers" of the cards. As one can see, we were looking into every detail, every visual aesthetic. God is in the details.
One of the most frustrating things on a website or app is when the "back" button does not take you back to the previous step or screen in the process, and instead makes you start all over again or exits the app! This is an example of things we have taken care of for Jet 2.0 :)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your warm posts in reaction to news I will be joining
@jetairways
as CEO. Together with the
@JalanKalrock
consortium, we promise to do our best to take Jet back to its former glory, step by step - we are fully committed to this. (1 of 2)
Just received this card - made from the metal of the first 747-400 ever to enter commercial service back in 1989 - Northwest Airlines N662US. An airframe I flew on several times back in the day when I was with the airline.
Thank you so much Team Indigo! This means a lot to us, you guys have set the benchmark really high and shown what is achievable by an airline in India in terms of size, scale, and consistency of operations, with a huge focus on the basics! Cheers!
@IndiGo6E
What they should teach in school:
1. Don't litter
2. Don't spit
3. Don't listen to your phone in public without earphones
4. Wait for your turn
5. Don't push both up and down buttons when calling the lift
6. Wait for those in the lift to exit first
7. Smile and use magic words
An Indian Airlines Airbus A320, Oct 2007. My kids (who are 18 and 20 now) used to love visiting the cockpit after landing. Those days it was not disallowed.
