The Magnificent Mile® Association and @ChiLoopAlliance are thrilled to announce the passage of legislation on Wednesday to allow the creation of Business Improvement Districts, Senate Bill 3679. We were proud to spearhead this effort, which was made possible by the leadership of our sponsors, Sen. @SaraFeigenholtz and Rep. @kambucknerchi BIDs empower local businesses to join forces and collectively fund projects that enhance their district. This means business owners can soon have a new economic tool that allows them to have a direct say in how their own funds are used to improve their neighborhoods and protect public safety. We'd like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who championed BID legislation throughout its journey. We appreciate the support of Representatives Kim du Buclet and Carol Ammons, and Senators Mattie Hunter, Donald DeWitte, and Mike Porfirio. We'd also like to thank the BUILDING OWNERS AND MANAGERS ASSOCIATION OF CHICAGO (BOMA), the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association (IRMA) for their time, energy and partnership on the bill. We also appreciate the support of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations, businesses, and allies. Together, we're empowering Chicago businesses to shape their communities through BIDs. This is a monumental day for the city's economic development. Senate Bill 3679 now heads to Governor JB Pritzker's desk for final approval.
