@Butterknifeopr8 @IainWatkinson And that's pretty much how it's been done in policing since forever. If the system is how I've assumed it's quite a good use of technology and unburdens already over worked duties staff.

@ReasonableCop @DJVC8834 @SadButMadLad Last thing I'll say on it as it doesn't affect me. I suspect much of the anger is from the misconception by many that there will be no leave at all over those 3 months. Now, can we get back to agreeing on things 😍

I don't know, I've never worked for TVP (although I did apply to transfer there around 1998). I suspect the system, during normal operating circumstances, knows what minimum levels are so allows people to book leave and will accept if assuming it is within those numbers. I also assume if it is not that it would be rejected and have to get manually authorised 🤷♂️

@ReasonableCop @DJVC8834 @SadButMadLad That's true. Similarly if I tell you that bacon sandwich you want, between 5pm - 8pm tonight, you can't definitely have yet until I assess whether or not there's going to be sufficient bacon to make it. I'll probably know by 2pm if there is and then I'll let you have it 😏

@reformexposed @cllr_thomas I've been transported back to the 90's playing a Chinese produced arcade game.

@ReasonableCop @DJVC8834 @SadButMadLad I'm not asking you to agree. I've read the article, it does not say no one is getting leave over those 3 months.

I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. I'm not sure why "embargo" makes it any worse than a ban, restriction, suspension or other term that means they're stopping people booking leave willy nilly of their own accord during a 3 month period while they make sure they have sufficient officers to cover events? They are not saying no one will get leave during that period, they're saying leading up to that time frame you can't just all book a load of time off. Like I say, I suspect between mid February and 31st of May they'll have it pinned down and the restriction, or embargo, will be lifted.

Perhaps I misunderstood the point then. People were reacting like leave bans never happen. If the issue is the amount of time then OK i'll concede that's a fiar chunk of time. Without wishing to give TVP the benefit of the doubt, my personal experience of these bans is the usually get lifted a good time before the actual period blocked out. At the moment, as I understand it, they're simply saying "you can't book your own time off on the system" 🤷♂️

@Butterknifeopr8 @IainWatkinson That's not quite what it's saying. It's saying you can't book your own A/L on their system. It might be able to be booked via a senior officer and often they work out their staffing requirements before the period comes into effect and then lift the ban.

I obviously cannot speak for all forces but for the 2 I've worked in it was most definitely not an odd thing, especially around times of large scale events. The scope might be wider with the TVP thing but it wasn't unusual to have leave bans running for some weeks and perhaps up to a month. 🤷♂️

@Acyn The command of the English language this spokesperson for the Chinese state has is impressive.

@ReasonableCop @DJVC8834 @SadButMadLad I'm confused. What's odd about this? Leave restrictions were often imposed when I worked both in London and Lincolnshire so this is not something new.

I'm not sure why you seem irked by my question? You haven't spelt anything out, you just posted a list of things police deal with which, respectfully, I'm well aware of. I'm simply asking where are all the officers if they are not on response but for some reason you seem to think I am aiming a dig at policing 🤔

@piersmorgan @elonmusk @realDonaldTrump I look forward to Elmo finding this Trillion dollars down the back of the sofa so that each and every American gets their $3030. Of course, that's not going to happen is it.
