I've been anxiously putting this off for a while, but I finally set up a Patreon today. You can check it out right now for an exclusive story. If you like magical girls & hate job network providers, then it's going to be something you enjoy, I think:
Just quietly, I think the best part of polyamory is not relationships or sex, but the ability to shamelessly and aggressively love your friends. There are no limits on my care, baby. No one holding me back from it either. 💖
Honestly, it's wild to see the "groomer" discourse around lgbtiqa+ people taking off in the way it has, not only because of how obvious it is a refresher of a homophobic meme that everybody was already aware of, but also because of how it relies on the listener....
@soft_galloglach
I'm still laughing about bioidentical not meaning identical from the other day. Like. It's in the word, babe. What do *you* think it means? 🤷♀️
@trans_foxgirl
@transscribe
There also *is* genuine pressure to be straight, and nothing more than surface level (ie: performative) discrimination for it either. So you're more likely to be wrong about it too.
Your husband is already a woman, and yes, she'll be happier. If you get over your transphobia fast enough, she might even let you stick around for long enough for you to see it too.
@samdylanfinch
@QuinntoBean
"your gender isn't real because a random person in the future working from a minuscule amount of data might misgender you" is not the bullet-proof take down that this guy's hoping for.
not really understanding what the point of sex education is in the first place. I remember that being controversial back in the 90s, but now we have a bunch of easy access to statistics proving things like "abstinence only sex education has never worked" and...
"children without safe access to education are easier prey for paedophiles", not to mention the very recent example of the rampant child abuse (and subsequent multi-level cover up,) perpetuated by the catholic church.
What sort of lesbian has the time to *hate* trans women when you could just get excited about BRAND NEW GIRLS instead?😯 Seriously. I'm just putting it out there.
@lizalfriend
Her birthday? Or the night she put her dress on for the first time and experienced gender euphoria? It was only meant to be a costume, but...
It's wild to take all of that, throw it out, and go: okay so, the trans adults must be wanting better sex education around trans issues for kids because they want easier access to children to abuse. First of all, how? The cultural flashpoint atm is drag in schools.
You know, if I were transphobic and genuinely saw myself as a feminist, I'd probably be more worried about designating a "woman-shaped" person an acceptable target for male violence and misogyny even if I didn't think she counted as a woman myself.
@PTChronic
@LilySimpson1312
You should call up their complaints line & escalate until you get to someone high enough to worry about the fact that there have been successful discrimination cases filed against companies for doing shit like that to non-binary people before & you're prepared to make one too.
@disco_socialist
The only answer left would be "make unemployment comfortable and reduce the stigma that surrounds it. Ensure that work is optional and unemployment isn't seen as bad," but I have a feeling that he wouldn't like that either haha.
Regardless of how confused you personally are about the difference between gay men, trans women, and drag queens, the latter two are fundamentally and definitionally not the same. I'm not even talking in terms of "what is a woman" here. I'm saying that a drag queen is...
The DL bi men thing was especially skin crawling to me. Yes, actually. *Everyone* deserves better than being treated like your filthy little secret. If you can't be open about your desires for any reason, you absolutely don't deserve to date us. This should be a no brainer imo.
Third-Sexed Transfeminist ⚢ 'Dulhaniyaa' OUT NOW!!
People say worse to trans women *all the time* to widespread agreement. A trans woman was called oppressive against DL bi men sitewide not a week ago, and the "infertility is a privilege" shit was concurrent and said to minimize our being *raped*. You disingenuous fucking FREAK.
a secondary persona. It's not something that you are in day-to-day life or else, you wouldn't be a drag queen. You'd be something else. It's not trans women doing drag story times either. It's drag queens. That's the point.
@AltMediaWatch
You can't determine sex in the way she's using it from a distance anyway. All you can see is possibly gender. So she's instantly refuted her own point. She's not good at this. 🫤
The normalisation of drag as a desexualised cultural phenomena also relies on them being different to function. The performance of gender transformation, in a public sense, is what the act is meant to show. The mere presence of a trans woman, or a trans man, couldn't do that:
It's important to note that since I finished this, the Australian government has quietly removed disabled people from the 1A priority group for vaccines, making the eugenic subtext of their policies and rhetoric starkly obvious.
'It’s impossible for any reasonable individual to trust a ‘commonwealth’ whose mouth-pieces continually affirm through rhetoric and action that your needs are less important than the needs of other people.'
@TheDescenters
on disability and Covid.
because our identity is not a separate persona, or an act, we can't present a show of turning into it. True, we could do so if were invited to do presentations: show where we started, where we went, share a bit about our lives. But, that's not the flashpoint of the "debate"...
We also know that education works, and it's really only lack of education causing all these things to turn into abuse in the first place. Why would further education be a *bad* thing? Why would anybody believe that's the case?
If the goal was infiltration, why would we promote a group who isn't us, but is often confused for us, being used to infiltrate spaces instead? Wouldn't it make more sense if we were simply being honest when we talked about our actual motivations?
that's centred specifically around drag queens! Literally a gender play designed to show an audience, in this case children, that it's okay to be gender non-conforming, even if you're cis. It doesn't offer anything to anybody else.
We want future young trans people to be able to avoid the sexual assault, physical and emotional violence, and confusion that we faced as young trans people ourselves. The normalisation and desexualisation of gender play assists with that.
Something that I've noticed cis people seem to struggle with is that it's never *just* transphobia that trans people are affected by. It's all the other intersectional oppressions *and* cissexism too. On top of transphobia. Any of them can exist independently of anything else.
@SerenaSonoma
Cool how the author of this one starts by heavily implying mental illness is a moral failure. Fash protecting fash is always good to see. 🙄
The fact that anyone is still pretending this is a bad thing while most people in our major cities (where most people in the country actually live,) can't, and won't be able to afford housing at any point during their lives is absolutely mindblowing to me.
Your regular reminder that trad publishing isn't and has never been a meritocracy. The most popular examples of any genre you can think of are never the best, especially if they've been turned into tv shows or movies too.
@disco_socialist
Seriously though, would we even have the same relationship with work if everyone could choose how much they did and when, & the costs associated with it were covered by the state? It shouldn't feel like a burden. It should be a choice you make to improve yourself or your society.
'Why do so many anti-trans rights activists, who often see themselves as left-wing or feminists, tolerate or downplay the presence of Nazis in their circles? And why do neo-Nazis show up to support them?'
@TheDescenters
on essentialism and fascist ideology
@wontgoon
When you're too cowardly to overtly say "male socialisation" because you understand the subtext, but you wanna say it anyway because you're gross.
So many people on here (and out there,) act like "allies" should be treated with kid gloves to avoid alienating them from their allyship. But no, actually: there's no point to allyship if that doesn't include a level of responsibility. You need to actually be helping us.
Also, it shouldn't need to be said but I'm gonna say it anyway: liking trans woman as a heterosexual man does not make you bi! Eat shit for suggesting that one too.😉
@blitziod
@kendallybrown
have you ever been penetratively raped before steve? is it something that you're more or less afraid of than being murdered by a bear? do you think it's something you're more likely to experience than being murdered by a bear? just curious
@nataliesqrl
I'm also pissed about them acting like the boyfriend dungeon thing was some sort of a miscarriage of justice too? There was no reason that they couldn't put a CW for stalking, and the response most people had to it was simply, to publically refuse to play the game.
Maybe also stop pretending that our economic system actually allows you any space to ever just be "not be okay"? We don't have guaranteed welfare or housing. The DSP has been intentionally hobbled to exclude as many people as it can. Don't even get me started on the NDIS.
As a mentally ill person I think you psychos can stop pretending there's some society-wide aversion to admitting you're mentally ill, instead of a negligently underfunded and inaccessible system that prevents people from getting treatment
It's more than that though? Jobseeker payments are too low to live on. Student payments are kept *even lower*. Even the DSP is not enough right now. Considering how fast the cost of living keeps on rising, we're going to need a MAJOR boost to all of them across the board.
Starting to feel like the biggest reason transphobes are losing the culture war atm is because at no point are they prepared to question if it's possible that they are wrong, what that would mean about their ideology, and what they're actually fighting for.
TERFs directly targeting me in person, now hitting up my place of work to put their pathetic stickers up in our bathrooms. Stable and normal behaviour. My workplace has no tolerance for queerphobic, transphobic idiocy. Keep wasting your time losers 💖
@UmbraVivii
@SJW00434125
@kat_blaque
Ignorance is often a choice cis people make though. They don't read stuff by trans writers. They don't expose themselves to trans perspectives. They don't have to. The least we can do is call them transphobes for it. To call them anything less provides a safe haven for bigotry.
Like, you seriously don't see how creating a path to dehumanise and objectify some people because they "only look like women" won't come back and blow up in your face? It happens all the time too.
@tiff_beverley
@MaraWilson
I honestly just read it as her making a good point here, because she is. Weird to think of anybody putting this up and expecting it to be some kind of takedown post, you know? This is eloquent, especially for an unexpected verbal comment on an issue.
We realize that the reason the "accuse trans femmes of racism to stop them from talking about transmisogyny" play only works so well because most white trans femmes don't actually *want* to be racist, right? Please note: this is not the same as us *not being* racist.
@trans_foxgirl
@transscribe
As a side note, it's also interesting that anti-queer people simultaneously appear to believe that children are both sexless and naturally straight, as only one of those things can be true. I think it's proof that neither of them are though...
Friendly PSA to all fascists: you're not entitled to privacy or a lack of pushback against your beliefs, especially if you're currently engaging in spreading bigotry, or attacking someone for opposing it online. Spreading bigotry is not a value neutral act. It has consequences.
Got my first bit of violent transphobic harassment on the train today! Good feeling. We mostly just ignored him and the carriage stood up for us in the end, but still. That groomer rhetoric has a lot to answer for.🙁
The passive voice is fucked up here as well. "Hit by a bulldozer"? You mean, "run over by a bulldozer, on purpose, because people don't matter as much as potential profits under capitalism," and you need to say it, otherwise you'll be complicit too.
Yes, that's what happens when you give people less access to, and freedom with, the money they require to survive, obviously? I can't believe anybody seriously expected anything else?
When was the last time you saw an adult transfeminine person writing something trans-positive in a mainstream media outlet that got the same (or greater) level of attention as that pro-medicalist detransitioner did? Exactly.
when right wing papers like THE AUSTRALIAN are publishing detransition stories to bolster their anti-trans anti-woke campaigns, yes, it is part of a campaign to limit the lives and medical access and public acceptability of trans people
The other thing I think that's stupid about this is you can literally just learn that shit? What's stopping you from hyperfixating on old cars or consoles for a while, downloading a few emulators and playing around? You can generate nostalgia at literally any age if you want to.
Third-Sexed Transfeminist ⚢ 'Dulhaniyaa' OUT NOW!!
Your romanticized idea of "cis male friend groups" and "male upbringing" is fucking stupid. Hearing them bleat on about their sick, violent, dehumanizing fantasies like it's a normal thing for a person to think made me want to rip my skin off and near drove me insane. Fuck that.
@nataliesqrl
It's also absolutely not in the same league in any way to what happened to Fall or Mardol! It's just reactionary content producers finding ways to justify themselves again. You'd think we'd be able to see though that sort of play by now!
Hey, there's a lot of gross transphobic shit in the Bridget Flack trend right now. If you have the stomach for it, please do a scroll through and report them. There's a lot of them and it's depressing and disgusting. :(
Already under patriarchy we have this "not a woman, just looks like one" status get applied to cis femme sex workers, women who are "too promiscuous", lesbians, etc. Historically it becomes even more true.
@sorrowfulwrites
Oh yeah, especially when it comes to metamours. It really changes your approach to love, and your ideas of commitment and fidelity. Once you learn to do it right at least.
I feel like the idea it's even automatically unserious, rather than a metaphor to explain a complex, individual relationship with their body, deserves a whole lot more unpacking in the first place.
To add to this: the risk of going through the "wrong puberty" is precisely what puberty blockers are intended to avoid. Going through the right one later isn't (and can't be,) a problem, even if you think that what is "natural" is what is most likely to be best.
"But the debate around puberty blockers—"
There isn't one. Use them in the well-established safe way and they're safe. The only doctors not using them that way are the ones who got into paediatric trans healthcare to be more transphobic.
I don't think a lot of cis people understand this sort of thing for what it really is? The response from the person answering the questions is bland and relatively kind, but the choice involved in realising you're trans isn't *being trans*, it's coming out about it...
The entitlement is what gets me here too? You're not entitled to know anything about our bodies we don't want to tell you about. That's not just true about trans women. It's true for everyone. You wouldn't even think to ask this question to anybody else. Why is it okay for us?
Yeah that's the other part of this too imo: we're expected to have so much sensitivity and awareness of everybody else's trauma responses, but for ours? Even mild ones like *fragility*? Fucking crickets. No time for it on my end. 🤷♀️If you're not a comrade you can toddle off.
Following from that last retweet: people really need to get okay with liking stuff that's "problematic" and/or sucks. You're not a better person if the things you like are morally uncomplicated or critically acclaimed, so you shouldn't have to break down if it turns out that...
No, it doesn't matter how our genitals work or what they look like! Stop making weird assumptions about trans women and our bodies! We probably don't want to fuck you anyway! Fuck off!
I loved this little tidbit from the article this article is responding to too: ..... Dude. You had a fucking mortgage? It was the 1980s and you published music journalism for money in *magazines*? Do you have any idea how much of that is just not possible anymore?
Once a person realises that they are trans, they're not immediately asking you for anything. If you hear it and you "disagree" with them though? You're asking them for *quite a lot*, and putting them into a very painful situation.
This is sorta like, a tangent, but I wanted to point out how much the original fear-mongering post relies on antiquated cultural assumptions about "fully transitioned" meaning "surgery" to function.
Libs of TikTok is back from another suspension and immediately found a new children's hospital to go after for providing best-practice gender-affirming healthcare.
This is funny cos if sex were actually immutable, we wouldn't see all of this energy directed at documenting people's assigned sexes in the first place. The same is true of heteronormativity in general. Were it *natural*, it wouldn't also need to be *enforced*.
Turning 35 today. 🥳If you'd like to do a sweet thing for me to help me celebrate, tell me something that my work, my posts, or visibility have taught you or inspired you about, or a thing that you find beautiful about me. It'll make my day.💜
Follow policing is also generally an unreliable method for finding out who someone is/what they believe in. It's easy to miss subcultural dogwhistles (like emojis) if you're not a part of the subculture in question. Plus, accounts can post multiple types of content...
'Terf lives are not a debate' really sums this one up imo. Transphobes don't have any real investment in the issue of trans rights. Trans people do. The rest is just reactionary wordplay. 🥱
If people do *choose* too, we should be asking *why*, not telling them that they don't matter. Especially since the reason is almost always social prejudice or disability. Usually both. It isn't reasonable or fair to abandon them either.
If you think people who are out of work from Covid deserve their $750pw why do you think it's acceptable for other unemployed to survive on less than half of that?
Very, very few people "choose" to be unemployed, but the Government chooses to keep them in poverty.
