Cage still makes an effort. Willis does not. Cage still makes interesting movies. Willis does not. Cage wears a mask. Willis does not. Cage made Con Air. Willis did not. Cage > Willis

Sudden Death is the perfect example of great mid budget action movies that they dont make anymore.

You know all 80s action movie heroes are basically just jingoistic slasher movie villains, right?

Ok, so we all know Drive is the gold standard for DTV action. A legit action masterpiece. But what other 90s DTV action movies would you say are also legit masterpieces of the genre??

Long Kiss Goodnight has one of my favorite action movie tropes: where the hero delivers on the promise of wrecking the villain's shit when they see them next exactly how they said they would. Other examples: True Lies Taken Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Drive Angry

The gold standard of over the top 90s action. Hysterical quotable dialogue. Expertly done action sequences. Gina goes for it and gives it everything she has. SLJ delivers in every line. Bierko is the smarmiest villain. Phenomenal score. Grade A classic. Harlin’s masterpiece. 5/5

Never not thinking about how in Kickboxer, Van Damme seeks out a Muay Thai master to learn Muay Thai in order to avenge his brother, and yet beats the bad guy at the end using NO MUAY THAI WHATSOEVER.

I cannot stop thinking about Carter. Truly this era's equivalent to Knock Off, in that a movie studio seemingly gave a considerable amount of money to a madman to disguise a full on visceral assault on every fiber of your being as a movie.

Is Grosse Point Blank the closest anyone has ever come to making a something that is essentially "What if John Hughes made an Action Movie?"

You can just feel the utter frustration in Jackie with just that shake of the head when he's told Brett is *still* talking on the phone.

There have been many beautiful kicks that have been forever immortalized through cinema. But this one? This one tops them all. You will never see a greater kick performed onscreen than this one right here by the legend that is Yuen Biao.

It just hit me, we could honestly count Mortal Kombat 95 as helping propel HK style fight choreography into the mainstream since the best fight scenes from that are the two that Robin Shou choreographed, and re-watching it, the HK style is quite obvious.
