Despite this serious threat, the individual was permitted to make a public apology and walk free. In stark contrast to Hawa Hunt, a reality TV star who appeared in a viral video abusing the president, has been in custody for several months and is currently facing trial. These allegations are alarming and highlight how the police may be complicit in serious acts of violence under the guise of suppressing dissent and siding with the regime—which had led to a series of mass killings in the past under this government.
