This 18 year old Amelia just challenged the Conservative party candidate on his homophobic views.
He stumbled, lied then she read out his party policy and he flip flopped.
Young people having the mc in politics is so important 🌈💪
Did you know Wellington has exsperinced a 40% Increase in bird numbers in the last year, with kākā at 270% and Kererū up 250% ! 🦜
🦺 Huge THANKS to all the awesome rangers and over 170 volunteer groups that make it happen across our city.
Meet the Mayoral candidates in Kilbirnie has broken in to a shouting match over Trans rights.
Real shame tbh feels awfull to sit here and watch egos overtake humanity. 🏳️⚧️
Very special evening in Wellington tonight with the handsome and funny

There is a strong call from the Rainbow community to defend the values of Pōneke against extremist, anti-Semitic, and anti-trans messaging. I'll be a marshal at this Sunday's rally. ❤️
If you feel safe, join me at 1.30 pm on Sunday on the City to Sea Bridge above Civic Square📍

with our transgender whānau was a real highlight of council last term.
It’s inexcusable having the knowledge that Andy has, he’s choosing to make Trans people a political football.
It’s taken me a while to write something out because I’m barr'd up and keep thinking about too many friends that have died because this hate has been allowed to run free.🏳️🌈
It is incredibly irresponsible to see what's coming w Posie Parker and not see this as inciting violence.
Seymour called to bomb up a ministry and we put up some satirical posters.
In my view there are far bigger issues to focus on, like the fact fair pay agreements will be gone by Christmas, benefit cuts are looming and bringing back no-cause evictions.
This is a photo of the kitchen ceiling in my flat that was almost listed as a historical site with Heritage NZ.
The water-damage hole provided a good home for rats practicing parkour, not a home for people! 🐀😰
Welly: The biggest thing is that we need to emphasise ZERO tolerance for any violence, throwing stuff, squeezey tomatoes etc.
If you start shit, you’re putting our more vulnerable members in harms way.❤️ 🏳️⚧️
quick plea to follow
@QueerEndurance
for offical event info
In 3 years, the relationships I’ve formed with all of you have granted the mandate for the transformation of waste, climate and social housing action. We need a second term to see this transformation through. TEZZA is running!💥
Very excited to have been selected as a candidate for the

elections. No other community would I rather mahi for ❤
Lighting up the MFC is not about waiting for the right time to speak out but, ensuring that every day we stand and support our gender diverse communities.
It’s personal. For our trans whānau - You are valid, you are loved, and we've got your back. 💙💗🤍
My heart goes out to Wellington’s rainbow, intersex and Takatāpu whānau. I’ve written to the Mayor, WCC Chief executive, Wellington NZ Chief executive and the minister of Immigration.
We’re looking at ways to awhi the rally for trans rights and exploring lighting up the MFC.
I keep trying to craft tweets about mahi but its distracting because somone has bought a BABY GOAT to black coffee in newtown.
Her name is Lizzie & we need more

Question about supporting saftey of trans women in the city. Andy and Paul (Tory absent, but I know she supports) were the only two to stand up for the trans community 🌈 :/
Lastly, 👶 Titipounamu (Rifleman, wich are so small that with feathers they are no bigger than a golf ball) are breeding outside Zealandia for the first time
& ITS SO GOOD that 11 North Island Brown kiwi have been released into the Outer green belt just the other week 🥝
I'm not a 'don't you know who I am' person, but do know that I'm the ONLY Cllr in my ward to support Mana whenua, Housing and Climate Justice reliably this term and proud of it! ✊️
❤ To reelect your reliable Cllr in the East, you can koha to Teri O'Neill at 06-0574-0229189-01
If you're questioning the prevalence of transphobia in our city, Just two weeks ago a trans woman was assaulted by an off-duty bouncer on Wellington streets. The bouncer on the clock turned a blind eye.
Today, we cannot be more direct in asking for you to not be a bystander🏳️⚧️
On Courtenay place and need a break? We’re out with Take 10 tonight until 3.30am
A safe, no judgment space to chill - have water, lollies, med attn and or find a ride home if need be! 👋

because I know how hard it is to put a tournament on for women’s sport (let alone a World Cup!)
Aotearoa’s show of support has opened up more conversations about where we need to be for Equity in women’s sport. ⚽️ 🌈 Bring it on !
Incredibly privileged having received two portfolio allocations, both issues close to my heart.
Natural Environment ('parks and rec', predator-free, coast, green belts, protection of our beautiful ecology and much more) & Homelessness in Asc Community Wellbeing.🌿👩👦
last weekend we planted 650+ trees! We are so lucky in Wellington to have such wonderful green spaces, and we've got to keep taking care of them🌿
Conservation Volunteers Wellington have two planting events next weekend if you'd like to join :)
Go Tāmaki Makaurau! What a great display. This is what kiwis are up for, catch you tomorrow Whanganui-a-Tara 💪
Don’t worry about flying down Posie Parker, we don’t want you any way !
Me when on the 5th hr of Newtown cycle way hearings I hear..
'We don't need Cyle lanes because I've only ever seen 3 cyclists there anyways.. and it's already too comfortable for them at the moment!' 🙃
Couldn't be prouder -

are campaigners, organizers and educators (tbh heroes) who over years have lead the ZCA campaign.
Today Lisa, Jamie, and Pubudu speak to SC on the Bill.🧡This is the most effective action on climate this country has ever seen.
I can’t stomach the thought that we’re scrapping free swimming for under 5s.
In summer of 2020 - 69 drowning deaths considered preventable were reported. Four of those were children 4 and under.
I was brave today and had my first blood donation!
My brother James has done about 15 donations anf finally got me along. My type is B+, inside and out :)
For $920 a week, you could rent this beautiful character protected home in Mt Cook. Don't worry about the mould, grime, and slime- it's just part of the place's heritage 🥰

'Aunty Tala' Cleverley was the first ever Pasifika person elected into NZ Local Govt ever in 1979!
She's out getting people to vote today, have you checked on 5 mates that might need the push? 🗳
Your two fave Candidates Don Newt McDonald and I have teamed up to bring you this message!
🟠 PŌTI! VOTE! From today your voting slips will start arriving!!
DEMOCRACY SAUSAGE going off in newtown today!
@WgtnCityMission
We've got support for language barriers, enrolments and walking busses to the local special voting locations 🗳 🔴
This isn’t 1879, we shouldn’t determine voting rights by property rights anymore. 1 Person, 1 Vote.
I know someone in 2019 who voted in 4 general wards, for 4 different mayors. Go

Earlier in the year when Grannie passed away we took on her little Kurī dog Figaro, now “Mr Figs”.
He’s not sure how he feels about wearing warm Wellington coats. 😂
Pretty mint day going for a hoon testing out the new bike and walk path between Wellington and Petone. Fab work

At Strathmore community centre you can get free sausages , toiletries packs and sharp haircut and a vaccine all at the same spot! Woooo! 🥳
Brilliant mahi to get out Communuty out and about !
Just passed our Dog and Animal policy review to go out to consultation, the main changes are:
🐈 ❌Mandatory de-sexing of cats
🐶 Mandatory doggy bag carrying to enforce illegal poopers! 💩
🪿 Max for up to 6 ducks, geese/hens or 12 quail allowed in residential areas!
WCC Councilor: "Won't this just be a drop in the sea? how do we know it'll even make a difrence?"
Ella (highschooler): "When you think about an animal about to be harmed, it fights for it a life to the very end. I will fight for my life"
#ClimateEmergency
This is such an amazing relief for so many candidates. Old system was BS archaic and favoured business owners and landlords.
This will make a difference for the many young, queer, disabled and other vulnerable people to be able to stand this year.
BREAKING: Minister Mahuta has announced that the government will remove the requirement for physical / street addresses on election campaign material, before nominations open for this year’s local body elections
This project has found to have had significant ecological impact on the natural environment. We need clarity and commitments to climate justice - not an ambiguous line in the budget. Thank you

Proud to second the motion for Removing 75M for ‘Airport Seawall’ ✅
Preliminary numbers say, 170’000 people - mostly school children -That is 3,5% of the entire NZ population.
We've bought our families along because we know there isn't a future if we don't fight for it. These kids give me hope.
60% in favour of making the golden mile and all side streets, car-free. Only public transport, servicing vehicles and pedestrians allowed. Woohoo ❌🚙, 👋💃👨🦼
@nashthomas
Don't forget the transpohbic tweets.
He's never said any of this stuff in meetings with us before and wanted to be the cllr assigned to the Takatāpui and Rainbow advisory council we set up 🥴 just ah, fucking disappointing and hurtful.
The Government has introduced a Bill to lower the voting age for local elections to 16! This is a huge day for the rights of rangatahi! It comes after years of pressure from young people, calls from across local govt, and a declaration of inconsistency with the Bill of Rights
I think there’s an expectation people should just have to ‘bear with it -it’s apart of being a student or a renter’
But it shouldn’t. Co-living with slugs and mice and mould (as stated by many others) makes us sick.
Excited to share I'll be Chair of the Social, Cultural, and Economic Committee this term!!! The Deputy will be
@nureddin_abd
, first term Rockstar, business owner and community advocate. 😀
The radical idea of wanting representatives that actually share our experiences. Future thinkers, Renters, Working class, People dependent on the services council provides. Proud to stand w/

+ Heaps o rangatahi round the country
Shame on leaders who have used their influence to legitimise this occupation, & it’s violence by engagement.
Apologies are needed -
The inflammation of this situation has lead to a greater violent force, rise of infection and hurt amongst our and community in Wellington.
Let’s here it for
@CycleWgtn
@GenZeroNZ
Alex , Trish and Linda who have moved the window on safe transport and communities in Wellington this year.
❤️ THANK YOU!
On the phone just then; Susan from Lyall bay wants to send
@TamathaPaul
well wishes! she thinks we're doing awesome community work and wanted to say keep it up. also made special mention to
@laurie_foon
as well she's sending big hugs to our new councillours💕
Big day for housing progress in the city -
Especially excited for the warmer Kiwi homes program. 🏡
Did you know, Every dollar invested in improving housing results in and a saves $4 by preventing hospital admissions. Really excited for the pilots
Wellington is the first city in Aotearoa to pilot a Rental Inspection Scheme, whereby Council officers assess renters' homes for mould and damp, and can pass on to MBIE for enforcement if they present a health risk.
Big mihi to
@grogersxyz
and
@rentersunited
for their advocacy.
We just amended to get 4.435M over the next 10 years for Native regeneration n

Today a few friends and I went to the counteract the "pro life" intimidation protest at parliament.
It's incredibly heartening to see so much cross party support. We shouldn't be classed criminals just to exercise autonomy over our body's.
"Tapu Te Ranga in Island Bay was extraordinary space & hub of manaakitanga. Life-saving, life-altering."
I don't have much money but I've got hands. A mate of mine is looking for kai that can be heated up - soup etc. If anyone has efficient ways to produce food/needs a hand
Anti Māori and anti 3Waters transphobic lady from the weekend is here at the back of the Mt Vic Res Meet the candidates tonight :/
Glad to be supporting cool candidates like

There were instances when I was a kid and we would have library days at WCC libraries and some of the kids didn’t get to take home a book because they had fines or charges.
That's one of the reasons why this is important for me, THANK YOU

for your advocacy 🧡📚
