January this year, I made one of the most difficult decisions. Left a permanent job to be closer to my little girl and accepted a temporary job. Through faith, believing, networking, and constantly knocking at different doors, one of them eventually opened 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
I look forward to running my first Comrades wearing the shoes I named after my late dad (Semohlo), and my fitness device I named after my daughter (Lumiphakade).
May their spirits carry me from the first to the last KM 🙏🏾🤍🙏🏾.

Key lesson; strong runners don’t require a lot of mileage, but strength.
To those who have aspirations to run their first Comrades in 2023, here is my advice;
- work on a road-running project plan
- select races that align with your goal
- know your training paces
- shop for high-mileage shoe
- be patient

We have an education system that doesn’t encourage or has a room for collaboration for such things. Therefore, a subject like LO is expected to be all rounder to bridge such gaps. On the hand, we also expect teachers to do the same while they are not trained for that.

I believe I have done everything right in preparation for the race. The mandate is clear, take it 1KM at a time and maintain 03’55”/KM.

After 27weeks of training, finally got the chance to lace up and run again. The goal was simple, to secure A Seeding.
I ran according to my strength today, first 10KM as a warmup then maintain a mid-tempo throughout the race.
