#LGBTHistoryMoment my parents were both born the year of the flapper vote. Despite a strong & happy 40 relationship, they could not marry so I had to register a parent’s death as a friend & her partner had to pay a large amount of tax on their home: some progress but a way to go

We should stop vilifying the young - they are more likely to work in jobs that place them at risk of infection & it was inevitable that large groups arriving from different regions would increase infections

Bullying is probably our most tractable public mental health problem- it undermines mental health in both childhood & the longer term- we have programmes to reduce it with demonstrable effectiveness yet largely fail to implement them

This is interesting. Although some children & young people are finding social distancing hard, others are not. There are large individual differences and studies looking at the effects of social distancing & Covid-19 should account for them, and not assume it's all negative

we need to study the impact of the pandemic on mental health & of infection on the brain - but equally studies undertaken should use robust methods & researchers must work collaboratively to share measures, & avoid duplication & gaps in the evidence

Gov has presented services for 0-2s as a “nice to have” (see quote from petitions cttee response) The Ofsted child protection stats show they are a matter of life and death for some children.The science shows they are crucial for lifelong health, wellbeing, learning and earning.

Workplace bullying is a #mentalhealth issue. Distressing, destructive - far from raising standards, it impairs performance & causes sickness absence. No organisation claiming to take mental health seriously can ignore it.
