Another example of the Shell Breaker "Shake" Harden's Middle Iso puts the defense to sleep and Powell "shakes" from the Corner to the Top of the Key for an Open 3. It's hard to help in the gap and see your man at the same time this way:
Traditionally in step up screens players on the weak wing are supposed to "shake" to the middle to stretch the X out man. But why not shake to the opposite wing and the ball handler pivot to find them for an open shot? Watch Shamet totally break the Grizzlies shell defense:

Rewatching the game winning play in Fox's first game with the Spurs and an idea creeped into my mind. Why don't the Spurs do the same thing except Fox intentionally throws a lob off the glass? Wemby's man helps? Dunk. If Wemby's man doesn't help? Layup.

Toronto uses the "throw ahead" or "ping" concept often used against hard hedge defense instead this time combining it with the touch roll. Easier passing angle to hit the roll and it brings the big man away from the rim. 🦖
