How does the kidney cope with injury? We have found that glucocorticoids, widely used in the clinic for their anti-inflammatory properties, have deleterious effects on damaged renal epithelial cells and exacerbate acute kidney injury. #ScienceTM

In this manuscript, we identify a semaphorin-plexin signaling pathway that operates in gastric G cells to inhibit gastrin expression and gastric acid secretion. We show that pharmacological activation of this pathway in mice can be harnessed to treat NSAID-induced peptic ulcers.
