Just this morning a talked with a mom and her adult son who were sleeping outside the building I live in. The mom had an SRO but her disabled son doesn’t so she sleeps outside with him.
I’m going to say it again because so many people still don’t get it. I would happily stay in a tent with spouse and cats not to be separated from them. Without spouse, staying with the cats is non-negotiable. Let us grant homeless people that agency.

Just yesterday morning I talked with a mom and her adult son who were sleeping outside the building I live in. The mom had an SRO but her disabled son doesn’t so she sleeps outside with him. They want shelter. They want housing. They say there’s nowhere for him to go.
We’re able to resume outreach and help connect people to shelter who are otherwise voluntarily homeless. On Thursday, City outreach teams placed 14 people into housing. We want to see more people getting the support they need and we’re committed to doing this work every day.
