At its regular Board meeting held today, the TNRD Board of Directors unanimously passed a motion to ask the Government of British Columbia to declare a Provincial State of Emergency in response to the wildfire situation in BC.

The East Adams Lake fire situation is rapidly deteriorating around Little Shuswap Lake and the Village of Chase this evening.
A formal Evacuation Order for Turtle Valley and area will be released shortly, and other Evacuations Alerts could be upgraded to Orders as the fire grows
BC Wildfire has confirmed the Kookipi Creek wildfire between Lytton and Boston Bar has closed Hwy 1 and crossed the Fraser. Do not attempt travel to this area. Tactical evacuations are ongoing, formal Evacuation Orders are imminent from the TNRD, FVRD, and multiple First Nations.

The Thompson Nicola Regional District has opened a resiliency centre in Kamloops to support wildfire evacuees. It's a one-stop shop to help evacuees find answers to their questions, and to begin the process of filing insurance claims.

UPDATE CHERRY CREEK: Later this afternoon, the TNRD will be issuing an Evacuation Order for all areas of Cherry Creek south of the Trans Canada Highway, as well as properties on the south side of the Trans Canada Highway in the Tobiano area.

Due to the current weather outlook and modelling from the River Forecast Centre the TNRD EOC has issued an Evacuation Alert so that residents in low-laying areas can prepare to evacuate their premises or property in Electoral Areas I, M, N.
