A thought on DART. This is an attempt to change the velocity of a small asteroid moon, Dimorphos, maybe as much as 3 mm/s. That's a nudge of a 100 m body about 1000 km in a decade. That means we'll have demonstrated our ability to protect ourselves from most city-killer threats.
