@brianstelter I would actually disagree. I see absolutely no signs of government incompetence. I see abundant signs of leadership incompetence, and that is rather different.

@prchovanec That is, I think, true of every guerrilla force throughout history, so it doesn't have quite the punch you might expect.

@Politicojunky @themaxburns @HC_Richardson Before that. Bill Barr announced his resignation Monday, December 14, 2020. Now, do you believe Bill Barr's sudden resignation just happened to be 4 days before the plotters started plotting the coup? What a coincidence. I don't believe in coincidences.

@DocSparse @MeridithJoyceGR In this paper we use machine learning to model stochastic perturbations in the secular variations of TNO eccentricities, providing validation of the ad hoc terms previously used to insert a Kozai resonance ab initio into the forward modeling.

@CARAA_Center I once saw the Roman (er, probably stolen Byzantine) glass in the treasury of the San Marco Basilica in Venice. What is really amazing is how _modern_ it looks. If the piece here (or an exact copy) were on sale in your local department store no one would blink.

@planet4589 10 days over 400 Hubble orbits between Sept. 24, 2003 and Jan. 16, 2004, or almost 4 months. That was a huge HST effort, but a warm-up exercise for the Webb.

The current solar cycle is bigger than predicted, and apparently John Clark of NASA has sent an email stating that the Hubble Space Telescope might only last another 18 months to 2 years without a reboot. This shocked the #OPAG2024.

@seanilling This is simply not true. Here are three somethings to do about it: .Restore the fairness doctrine. Make propaganda networks financially responsible for spreading lies. Overturn Citizens United.

@nhuntwalker Suppose you have a bunch of correlated parameters. Eigenvectors: Linear combinations of those parameters that are not correlated. (You can always find these.). Eigenvalues: The value of these combinations for the actual parameters in question.

@JYSexton Propaganda eventually starts killing the people it is aimed at. “Words can be like tiny doses of arsenic. They are swallowed unnoticed, appear to have no effect, and then after a little time the toxic reaction sets in after all.” . (Victor Klemperer).

@jonbernhardt How about, as the first act of war, bombing a restaurant full of civilians because of some "intelligence" that Saddam Hussein would be dining there? That seems like an obvious war crime on a bunch of different levels, and yet rapidly dropped from view.

@AJ_FI A rock like that, on the surface, would have a very short lifetime - maybe a million years or less - so the question becomes, is this from a meteor strike, or a sign of tectonics (e.g., a lobate scarp nearby)? That is very interesting and relevant, esp. on the far side.

@iAmTheWarax And J.R.R. Tolkien fought in WW1 and said “By 1918 all but one of my close friends were dead.” The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit was written with that as a backdrop.

@lindy2350 Yes, American Medical practice. It's like you take your car to the shop to get the muffler worked on, and 9 months later you get a bill for $900 from a "sparkplug specialist." . I'd try and get my insurance involved, to (if they won't pay) get their negotiated rate.

@pilliarscreatio So I walk down and sit next to him and start paying attention to the NASA admin. Someone comes and takes our picture and I don't think much about it. Someone else does the same, and then someone else, and so I finally look to my right and see whom I sitting next to.

@NSF @NAICobservatory Anything made can be remade. Anything built can be rebuilt. Of course, the question is who will pay for it. NASA has a new Planetary Defense program office - they need this and should pay for rennovations.
