Out of 1,325 apartments only 25%, 330, are dedicated to affordable housing. Advocacy is needed as the deal is not final...arguing over the historic district and 67 units is missing the big prize.
24 hours of taxing the people who live in the zone to enter or leave - no free hours when MTA is closed overnights; Peak hours now 14 hours/day - plain and simple $ grab for years of poor management and forecasting and a drop in their $ bucket
@willthomas_usa
@yuhline
Where are you when
@yuhline
was arguing for a full mixed income housing for 5WTC where it can make a significant difference with several hundred units?
Our essential workers deserve a lasting monument to their dedication that is well planned and well placed, not one that is rushed and might take away from another nearby memorial. This needs to be planned with input and engagement from the community.
@IbtesamK
Yes I know. I chaired CB 1 for 7 years. The city can take the lead on finding a more suitable site that actually has a nexus to essential workers and the heroic work they did.
Thank you for your support - always keeping people over politics in mind!

New York’s essential workers deserve our honor and respect—and we can commemorate them with a memorial. But bulldozing vital open space in lower Manhattan isn’t the way to do it.

I have penned a letter to Governor Hochul on proposed action on behalf of Battery Park City Authority appointments. I am urging the Governor to bring about fair, just, transparent local representation when it comes to decisions being made for communities and residential impact.

This tax makes the least affordability areas even more $$$$! Lower Manhattan residents are among the most rent burdened in NYC- adding more expenses is counter intuitive to the goals of affordability within the zone.

NYC needs the state to reclassify Throttle-controlled e-bikes that go up to 25 mph (40 km/h) & don’t require any pedaling to need a license and go on streets/ follow traffic laws! lowering the speed limit is useless without enforcement and changing rules.
How is tearing apart active green space, adding gas lines & concrete climate friendly? Monuments should be reflective of Boroughs where most of the pandemic’s victims were from. Battery Park City is 100% not representative

opened in front of Pier A in BPC and the prices are exorbitant - $35 a round for anyone over 12 (the Pier 2 mini golf is $10 adult/$5 kid). It would cost me $140 for my family of 4, how’s this family friendly.
@bpca_ny
what do you have to say about this?
Those who sacrificed their safety& lives as front line workers need honor by raising awareness of those most affected by Covid, monuments should be reflective of Boroughs where most of the pandemic’s victims were from.Battery Park City is 100% not representative

Is this the best way to honor the Essential Workers? Who knows!? We have no idea who was consulted or contributed to the design!

Sad to hear this because while it sounds like taking the high road, the district is diminished without a WFP voice downtown in leadership of NYC. Will the knowledge that the majority of votes were spread among the progressive candidates mean anything to Goldman? So far no..

We support monuments for those who sacrificed their safety, livelihood & even their lives as front line workers. Raising awareness of those most affected most by Covid, monuments should be reflective of where most of the pandemic’s victims were from. This is certainly NOT!

I was inspired by the many educators and students at PS 130’s annual benefit. From dancing (lion and ballroom) to trilingual singing, PS 130 does it all! As the next AM, I will fight to fully fund our public schools & ensure our students can thrive academically and artistically.
Such a beautiful message and vision for multi party politics to represent all Americans. Diversity brings perspective, opens dialog and helps the entire nation.

Work from home is going to be a permanent part of our economy.
Instead of pushing back against a rising tide, let's embrace change by building more affordable housing, biotech labs, CUNY campuses, and Midtown karaoke!

Lawmakers are correct - every move made has added luxury housing and diminished affordable housing in Lower Manhattan - this is the same bait and switch
As
@GovKathyHochul
pushes to lift the FAR cap, which forbids residential buildings from being any more than 12 times larger than its property’s lot, she's meeting resistance from lawmakers who believe the lift will lead to more luxury housing.

Cart before the horse NYC Politics: keep issuing more FHV permits, do nothing to unclog our streets from placards, city cars and not enforce traffic laws for anything other than meter parking = congestion pricing is a tax not a solution.
Revitalizing the city’s economy will require untangling our snarled streets and bringing ridership back to trains and buses.
Here is the full testimony I submitted today to the
