Councillor Parkachik is spearheading efforts to establish Suru Valley as a premier destination for adventure and eco-tourism in Ladakh. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and untapped potential, Suru Valley is rapidly gaining attention as a hub for year-round adventure activities under his leadership. A recent highlight of his initiatives was the 8-day Skiing Course at Beuru Khar Namsuru, which concluded. Organized by the Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association (LSSA), the course trained 24 participants, including 11 girls, in foundational skiing techniques. The event was marked by a stunning skiing demonstration by the participants, showcasing skills such as snowplough and parallel turns, leaving the audience in awe. Tahir Hussain Zubdavi Joint Director Youth Services and Sports UT Ladakh, was the chief guest and others present on this occasion include Tehsildar Taisuru, BDO Taisuru, SHO Panikhar, and ZPEO Taisuru. Prizes were awarded to the top three performers in both boys’ and girls’ categories, while Councillor Hudda and the LSSA team presented mementos to the guests. Tahir Hussain Zubdavi lauded Councillor Parkachik's unwavering commitment to promoting winter sports and transforming Suru Valley into a globally recognized adventure destination. He also praised the LSSA for their dedication to nurturing local talent in skiing and snowboarding. This skiing course is part of a broader strategy to position Suru Valley as a center for adventure sports, including skiing, paragliding, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Events like the Suru Outdoor Festival have already attracted international attention, blending adventure with cultural celebrations and fostering community participation. Councillor Aga Ainul Huda has also been advocating for improved infrastructure and road connectivity to ensure year-round accessibility, especially during winters. Plans for eco-friendly tourism practices and sustainable accommodation facilities are underway, ensuring development aligns with environmental preservation. The skiing course’s success reflects the growing enthusiasm of local youth and the strong support of stakeholders. Sadiq Ali, a ski instructor, expressed gratitude to the councillor, local volunteers, and the LSSA team for their collaborative efforts in making the event a success.
