Sinn Féin Economy Minister Conor Murphy has been elected to the Seanad and will step down from Stormont. Murphy has won a seat on the Industrial and Commercial panel. It is expected that Sinn Féin will confirm his replacement later today.

This morning I lodged my nomination papers for election to Seanad Éireann. The all-Ireland economy is growing. Constitutional change is coming. My experience as Sinn Féin chief negotiator and Executive Minister will drive efforts for referenda and Irish reunification.

📍The Executive has agreed a draft Budget for 2025/26 with £19bn of proposed allocations made to Departments. 📌 The draft Budget is now live for public consultation, which is open until 13 March 2025.

📢Assembly Refresher Training 🗓️Join us on Wednesday, 27th November, from 2–4:30 pm for an Assembly refresher training session where we will guide you on crafting impactful campaigns and connecting meaningfully with MLAs and ministers, ensuring your message stands out in their overflowing inboxes. 2024 has been a big year for politics both locally and further afield. The Assembly and Executive was finally restored in February. Westminster witnessed a significant shift with the election of the first Labour government in 14 years, while in Dublin, a general election is set for 29th November. 2025 will bring fresh opportunities to influence policies and engage effectively, especially as the Executive begins turning its agenda into actionable legislation.

The UK Government has announced as part of today's Budget that Northern Ireland will receive: 📍£730,000 to support schools as they work towards integrated status. 📍£38 million for the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Additional Security Fund. 📍£8 million for the Executive Programme on Paramilitarism and Organised Crime. It was also announced that the government will proceed with the Mid South West and Causeway Coast and Glens City and Growth Deals.
