There are many different ways that you can do this. there is nothing sacred about social security in the US, and in fact SS has been modified many times. When they raised the age you could receive the full amount back in 1991 it cost me about $50,000. Keynes reasoning is as valid now as it was in 1919. Some kind of state provided old age pension is essential. There is a lot of room to argue about the details.
