@nearcyan Oh no. If you are a corporation, your job is to make other corporations LESS efficient.

@sailaunderscore Fast food has gotten really expensive in the last decade. Everything has its run, fast food started in the 50s, maybe peaked in the 1990s or 2000s.

@antiquebookshlf Pope could easily have pursued this life. Ten or twenty acres. But he did not.

We used to have top brass with blood in their eye. You know what I mean. In the last 40 years we've hired the opposite. Top brass who are glorified HR managers. Presidents, D and R, are responsible for this mess. We have the "best trained trained, best equipped soldiers in the world" but we can't win a f*ckin war against goat herders.

@SuryaGanguli I guess we should spend all of our money on scientists researching random things then.

@MarkSteynOnline I've been saying for years that when people use the phrase "our democracy" what they really mean is "our racket."

JM Keynes wrote about this in "The Economic Consequences of the Peace." The problem he described, in 1919, was that for various reasons people were beginning to live far beyond the age where they could perform valuable work and their children were unable of unable or unwilling to care for them. Hence the need for the state to do so in the form of social insurance. There are many different ways that you can do this. there is nothing sacred about social security in the US, and in fact SS has been modified many times. When they raised the age you could receive the full amount back in 1991 it cost me about $50,000. Keynes reasoning is as valid now as it was in 1919. Some kind of state provided old age pension is essential. There is a lot of room to argue about the details.

@wanyeburkett The smart thing to do would be to look at how other countries manage the same issue.

@KarluskaP Amy Klobuchar is literally insane. She believes that a woman can have a penis and get a man pregnant. That is seriously crazy.

@StephenM Remember when good ol' mayor Pete took parental leave after only 8 months on the job right in the middle of the worst ports crisis this country has seen since WW2?

@StephenM Pete wants a career in politics bigger than being the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. He has his eyes on one of Michigan's senate seats so he is moving North to establish residency. If his dreams come true he will then win Gary Peters senate seat in 2026 and live in DC full time.
