While everyone watches GA, an immense danger has arisen in PA: Repub state senators took over the session from the Lt. Gov. and prevented the swearing in of a Dem who won his race for state senate. This is an open declaration of war against American democracy and the rule of law.

I seldom cry, but I shed a few tears a little while ago while saying goodbye to our dog Lottie. We had adopted her from a shelter when she was 11, and she was just a few months shy of 19 at the end, and failing rapidly. It was time to let go of our little friend.

Jesus said we should help the poor, and he had some harsh words for the rich and powerful. So why do evangelicals support rich politicians who promise to cut programs that help the poor? And the answer is... They don't give a f*ck what Jesus said.

A prophecy: Soon after Donald Trump dies, his worshippers will report that he appeared to them, said he would be with them to the end of days, and then ascended into heaven. Tens of millions will then start swearing that they too saw him. This is how cults evolve into religions.

Some believers are baffled by atheists' criticism of religion: "If they don't believe, why do they care that we do?" We don't care what you worship; we care about our society. Too many believers impose their religion on others, intruding into civic matters of law and education.

I guess it's true that you're never too old to learn. Now just a week from 78, I am still learning that every time I think I have seen the ultimate level of ignorance and arrogance among Christians, it turns out that I am wrong. There is no limit, no ultimate level.

If the Bible is God's word, then God has confessed to vanity, jealousy, poor judgment, and fits of genocidal rage. So if Jesus was God incarnate, his death was atonement not for our sins but for his own sins. Yes, that is blasphemy, and it follows inexorably from bibliolatry.

#Christians , please explain this to me: If lying is sinful, Christians who repent from sin should cease lying. But some Christians lie continually (often about atheism and science), yet still claim to be saved. Does being forgiven for a sin give license to continue that sin?

Theist: “What is your objective basis for condemning genocide?” Me: “What is YOURS? Bible-God commits genocide.” “That’s not genocide.” “It is, by definition.” “God created us, so he can destroy us.” “Like a brat breaking his toys because they are his to break?” Beyond pathetic.

#Christians , explain this: Bible-God wiped out whole populations and ordered his followers to kill all who worshipped false gods. But today, God takes no action against false worship. How can it be that immutable God acts very differently now than he did in ancient times?

On evidence of God: 1. The existence of God is not an issue in science. 2. On non-science topics, evidence is not scientific but it is objective (e.g., source material as historical evidence). 3. There is no objective evidence of any kind relevant to the existence of God.

Theists, please explain. God smote all kinds of wrong-believers and idolater/blasphemers in biblical times. So why am I still around despite my wrong (according to you) belief? And why are you still around despite your ceaseless idolatry and blasphemy?

Creationists here on X howl in outrage at science. So why doesn't one of these devout scholars write an evidence-based refutation of evolution for publication in a peer-reviewed science journal? A Nobel Prize awaits you! Go for it! Or just go on disgracing your own religion.

An apology to everyone who took my "proof of God" (2 days ago) seriously. My satirical proof was too close to the actual gibberish offered by proselytizers and apologists. In the future, I will identify satire with "/s" (I had not known about that symbol).

It's 2023. Why is America galloping backward to the Dark Ages, an era of ignorance and superstition, fear and hatred, privation and disease? Maybe Satan is real, and he has tricked all the right-wing evangelicals into following him while thinking they are following God...?
