Capitalism has no place in medicine. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
If medicine was actually about caring for people it would all be open source.

You know what really drives me crazy? When black folks have individual opinions. Come on man, how am I supposed to deal w/that. There's nothing I can do until black folks become a monolith.
Hopefully at the next black folks convention they're get their shit together.

no 150 million is just the amount NYC paid in overtime, not the total cost by a long shot
you may doubt, but administration of these programs is crazy expensive
here's just one tiny example of administration costs

really depends on the stage they catch it at and the type - a lot of times there aren't symptoms until late stages when it's pretty much hopeless
that was not the case with Jobs, his kind and stage was very treatable, but he waited almost a year to get proper treatment

Acid rain & Ozone didn't happen because we mitigated them. The ice caps have lost 40% of their thickness since the 1960s. They are currently melting at an average of 9% per decade.
And aside from oil running out none of those examples are intellectually honest.
@dereckapurnell
Social programs; housing, food banks, community clinics, public defenders. Things that address the problems, not things that punish people for having problems.
@jennycohn1
Sure, lets do it like other developed countries, where you're registered to vote at birth automatically and have national ID programs that are cheap/free, fast/instant, & available at all kinds of places like post offices.

I don't disagree that the US has a lot of transit problems, but I would argue cities making money off public transit are also a problem
profit really shouldn't be the point of public programs, esp when they profit off the public...

Every single member of congress House and Senate should have their finances investigated all the time. It should be the norm, not a political weapon for partisan hacks.

my grandparents used to live there, one of the things I remember about the area: a lot of houses have septic - I wouldn't go near that water

In Texas? People are shocked? That people are armed in Texas? The state you can bring your unregistered guns to church? That Texas??
Did conservatives think 2A was just for them? Did you think only people you agree with would buy guns? 🤣

One way they try to mislead people w/the both sides argument is to equate violence against people as the same as "violence" against property. The "violence" of the left is almost entirely to property.
@SpeakerRyan
So you thought yourself I'll use that as an excuse while I raise taxes on the poor, eliminate deductions for the middle class, and give huge tax breaks to the rich. That's what your tax bill does.

I like where your head's at, all the children of Presidential candidates should hand over their tax returns. That would be great. VPs too while we're at it.

Why can't we just all agree the federal/state congresses shouldn't make medical decisions? It's just not the right stage for these kinds of debates.

We the People disagree. We the People will not forget that you fought through the night to give a huge tax break to the people that already hold 80% of the wealth. We the People will not forget that you forgot us.

What's so stupid about this position is there's no reason for oil companies to invest in drilling more oil when they can just charge more for what they've already got.
It won't work without regulating production & price, which Rs voted against.

It would be a better argument if she hadn't waited a week to see if Pence would do the right thing, when absolutely everyone knew he wouldn't.
