Just called my wife, turns out my 6 year old son's soccer game was canceled mid-way through the game. Evidently the kids were too distracted trying to eat the snow flakes and just stopped kicking the ball.
I took my young boys to Dr. appointments today, just the usual physical, flu shot and vaccines. But in a rare moment for me of seeing the big picture...I stopped to think how grateful I am that we have 2 healthy boys. I am blessed...and I need to stop and appreciate it more
We got the cup! I almost touched the cup at the parade. Today my family touched the

for real. What a moment! I think I could still smell the T-ravs from Gitto's in it.
This guy has been through a lot. But a successful knee surgery is a step in the right direction. Is it me or is that cone excessively huge? Oh well, I can't wait to share pics of him walking again... without the cone! He's the best.
Check out the shelf cloud in Eureka. Strongest part of the storm is north, another storm coming in from the southwest. These clouds are a result of the powerful burst of rain cooled air ahead of the storm.

I love this cool weather. Pork shoulder is on the smoker, I got coffee on a cool morning and hanging with Seamus. Hope you're enjoying this Saturday morning!
If you're a light sleeper, you're up because of these storms. Plenty of lightning and thunder, but not severe. Or you're up because the Blues are awesome and it's hard to go to sleep now!
Big update on the snow storm...heavier snow in wave

tomorrow from 12pm to 6pm has forced combined totals up. This map is combining the 1-3" tonight with the bigger 2nd wave.
After a thorough written examination and Weathercast evaluation, I was granted the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation by the American Meteorological Society.

is my new favorite number! Thank you

Had a nice walk with my pup Seamus on
#NationalDogDay
. He’s got a bum leg, so until he gets it fixed I push all 100lbs of this furball in his chariot. Like a Prince.
Upgraded severe risk this afternoon-early evening. We're now in a level 4 (out of 5 the highest) severe risk. Threat includes tornadoes, damaging wind and hail. Have a way to get alerts and have a plan on where you take shelter, should you need to

This team was in last place on Jan. 1st. You think we're gonna take the cup in anything less than 7? We'll see you in Boston and we'll be ready. Bring it.
Here’s my home office setup to monitor storms today. Computers give instant chat with weather service, radar products in the middle and on the right one of our weather computers in the studio remotely controlled. Meghan is in studio, we can both be on air if needed.
For 2 hours St. Louis had a rainfall rate of about 2" per hour. Storm total is over 7.5" and is the most rain on record in St. Louis for a 24-hour period beating 7.02" from August 19th-20th 1915. It's still raining as I tweet this!
Here's what the sky will look like at 6:00 PM tonight, in a month, in 2 months and in 3 months. You can also see the sunset times getting earlier and earlier.
Wait, what?
@BKoepka
spent 2 hours at the gym and then played 18 winning the
@PGAChampionship
? That's amazing. I'm going to get another bag of chips and listen to the rest of this interview.
Radar estimated rainfall so far, still getting rain though not as heavy. But this highlights the swath of historic rainfall that cuts from northwest to southeast right through the St. Louis Metro. Highest total we've see observed is near St. Peters at 12.34", still raining
OMG, best picture ever! I'm not sure I can go to sleepStill soaking it all in. Post game
@Panger40
interview with Maroon is amazing. Laila kissing the cup with her "best friend" Parayko. Last place to champs! And how about St. Louis...no rioting...just partying & celebrating
It was a good day for Seamus at the Soulard Mardi Gras Pet Parade. Lots of new friends and sniffing...and now he's asleep and tuckered out. Hope you had as good of a weekend as Seamus!
We had 2 seasons this October. Remember when we started the month with Summer and a record high of 94? And today felt more like winter with a different type of record...the coldest high temperature of just 37.
Check the clouds moving in ahead of the afternoon thunderstorms. That wavy appearance is turbulence above a stable layer. Likely these would be classified as Asperitas clouds
It's official, a 128 year old record fell today. We hit 92 today, beating out the 91 from 1891 on this date. Benjamin Harrison was president in 1891, the Wainwright building at 7th St. was completed and
@DougVaughn_KMOV
was just starting at KMOV
Here's our bionic dog. Seamus just had his 2nd knee surgery. Poor guy...he's tired, seems a bit confused why this was necessary and probably fearful of any car ride because lately it results in surgery. 2 weeks of rest, then we start multiple rehabilitation walks every day.
Tornado has weakened now where the circle is located. Arrow shows path of rotation and likely a tornado near Eldon, MO and a tornado in Jeff City with damage now reported, buildings collapsed per emergency management via the JC Fire Dept.

Storm fatigue is real, I'm sure many of you are getting tired of this. But please hang in there, Spring storm season won't last forever. We want you alert & safe, so here's what you need to know for the next 24-36 hours before we get a break:
The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a geomagnetic storm watch, the first since January 2005. We might be able to see Northern Lights this far south. So be alert for the Northern Lights tonight
#FirstAlert4
A Winter storm is 5 days out, we will see changes. But this is Noon Tuesday, shows how the position of the Low is changing in each model run. Can't pin down specifics, but certainly a chance for significant snow impacting Monday night-Tuesday evening in the region
#FirstAlert4
105° is the difference between our record high today and the wind chill 12 days ago that hit -33°. Wow!
We hit 72° today, beating the old record for January 3rd of 68° from 1939.
It's also the first time in the 70s in January in almost 6 years.
Here's Tom Stolze's view of the likely Fireball, from O'Fallon, MO. Fireball means it's very bright as the particle burning up in the atmosphere was larger than typical meteors. Northern Taurid Meteor shower in progress, that likely what this came from.
It's been 1,552 days since the St. Louis Weather Service Office has issued a blizzard warning (which was north of the St. Louis metro). It has been 0 days since the Los Angeles Weather Service office has issued a blizzard warning
Language Warning, but wow check out the video of how even big rigs can't win on this ice! We'll get above freezing later today, but in the meantime don't travel if you don't have to
#FirstAlert4
Thunder sleet or Thunder freezing rain is happening....you don't see that every day! As expected the icy mix is coming down in bursts this late morning into the mid-afternoon.
Be on guard for a flood threat this evening. Slow moving storms this evening could produce flooding in isolated areas. Storms can dump 1-2" but if areas get hit by multiple storms 3-5" is possible. These should flare up around 5pm-6pm and fade a little after Midnight
A little light rain won’t stop us from his short rehab walks 2-3 times a day. His 2nd repaired knee is getting stronger each day. His shaved butt from surgery is still awkward
